www.gsntv.com/show/hellevator/about/#Saw this on GSN's Twitter. Sounds like an interesting concept, but does it belong on GSN? That's what I'm trying to answer right now. I don't know what to make of this.

I think GSN is trying to see how far they can go with these risque concepts. AMC has "The Walking Dead" (and The Talking Dead) so I think since horror is such a fascinating thing for some people, GSN has to get in on it. I don't see whats so fascinating about zombies though, but anyways GSN is trying to get in on the "horror" bandwagon so to speak.
I don't think Skin Wars belongs on GSN, but look at the ratings for that show. It's been one of their successes. It just goes to show that something of that sort of competition had to work one of these days, and GSN finally found something that works.
This is just another show I won't watch.

I like the female hosts but other than that, this show looks like a massive turd.

Physical game show? If this indeed the case, I'd be happy to watch it - provided that it doesn't suck.

It's a horror-themed stunt show produced by Jason Blum ( Paranormal Activity). In a recent interview Blum described Hellevator this way: "It's a challenge game show where you go down a series of floors. The closer you get to hell, the more difficult it gets." The Soska twins of horror movie fame are hosting. Of course, I don't expect the show to have any appeal to the older-is-better folks around here. (See some of the comments in this thread, for instance.) But Blum has sold a lot of movie tickets and he knows how to make a commercially successful product. The show is due in October and we'll see what happens. A teaser from GSN...

Will it have any appeal to you, Mr. caseyabell? I know some older people who like horror movies/shows. I like the older ones the best, like the ones MeTV airs on Svengoolie, which is a classic horror movie show hosted by Svengoolie and its funny too. Anyways though, the horror movies/shows nowadays? Yeah... those appeal to a younger generation. Horror is really a niche genre, itself though now. Horror movies used to be just suspenseful and not as graphic as they are now. It's too Hollywood now. Horror has a following, but in my opinion it's more of a cult following.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hellevator would launch on or around Halloween.
Yep, yet again another modern show I will not watch.

I have no idea. I haven't even seen the show yet. But it's obvious that a lot of people around here have already made up their minds, as expected. I mean, this is a mostly older-is-better board, after all.

I mean, this is a mostly older-is-better board, after all. I think you'd see that quite a few of us either prefer modern shows or a combination of both modern and classic. And I don't believe people are saying it's going to "suck" because it's new. GSN has produced so many good game shows in the past (early-mid 00s).

Jon didn't reveal his preference about what era of game shows he likes.

I watch all kinds of game shows. Casey, I would like to kindly ask you to quit assuming what we like here. We are a board of different preferences. You're an older person saying this crap, no offense.
And so we don't turn this thread into another firestorm between us, I would like to end it right there. I'm not the only one tired of you assuming what people like, it sure sounds like that's what you're doing.

I don't know what to make of this. Hellevator does not look that bad. Sure, I would rather watch an hour of The Chase or $The $25,000 Pyramid, but from the looks now, Hellevator could/should/will be more of a thrill than Steampunk'd/Skin Wars/Man Versus Fly/Lie Detectors, etc.

Also to note, Jason Blum said in a recent interview that Hellevator was up-ed from 10 episodes to 8 hour-long (which was the original order). If this is true, GSN must be liking the looks of Hellevator.

Casey, please don't derail my topic. I really don't appreciate that. Thank you.
