Here's where I made the discovery at. It's for a 10-episode revival on ABC. www.gameshowforum.org/index.php/topic,30857.msg368630.html And they'll be on ABC, where the original show, Second Chance, was on.

At least this sounds legit, unlike past sources which were nothing but April Fools jokes.
I'd be quite interested to see this new series, but unlike TPIR, I don't suspect reruns of the 1980s version on Buzzr and GameTV will be impacted - otherwise reruns of classic Match Game would have disappeared by now.

The Larson story is very legendary in the game show world and I'll bet with as advanced technology is now, we'll have more board patterns on this reboot. I can't remember exact numbers but they changed the patterns and added more than the original small number of them on PYL after Larson's episodes, and more than that on the 2002 version.

I believe the board was Larson-proof on the 2002 version, and it may likely have been Larson-proof on the Game$how Marathon version in 2006.
Given technology these days, unlike in the 1980s, I wouldn't be surprised if the light patterns will be random and not fixed, and the so-called "slides" will be displayed on computer screens. How many screens there will be, will be very interesting to find out (hopefully they will retain the traditional 18 squares).

I tried to apply the other night to be a contestant and got through the whole application but when it came to the part of recording a video of myself, the program said the hardware was unavailable. I was using my smart phone for this. Did/does anybody else experience this issue? I would love to be on the show since I was/am a huge fan of PYL.

So what happened with Ryan Seacrest, wasn’t he originally supposed to host the new PYL? Google was not my friend on this one, I couldn’t find anything as to why the change of host.

I thought I read Andy Richter was gonna host the new PYL?

Seacrest hosting PYL was from an April Fool's joke by BuzzerBlog last year. Andy Richter said that he rehearsed for a show, but didn't indicate that it was PYL, and Randy West denied it was that show even before the news about Banks was announced. Maybe he's hosting the new Catch 21?

It was supposed to be Adam Curry, then they got Elizabeth Banks. I am interested in how this will turn out.

I didn't hear Adam Curry, presumably the 80s MTV VJ with that name, was in the running for a game show. Andy Richter from Conan O Brien's NBC show tweeted he was auditioning as a game show host a month or two ago, so it could have been PYL he was referring.

This is interesting because I fell in love with the original show, so let me say my thoughts:
The good: 1. The gameplay works. It's tried and true and they didn't change what wasn't necessary to change. 2. The host. Elizabeth Banks is better than I thought. 3. The Whammies. THANK YOU. People remember what made the whammies funny. We don't need advanced 3D graphics for the whammy to be cool. 4. The set. It's beautiful. 5. The bonus game (with one caveat) 6. Odd dollar amounts: $1,505, $2,020, $3,333? Yes yes and yes. 7. I have no problem with three spaces constantly being "+1 spin", that's actually good but put a few more +1's in round 2.
The bad: 1. This show does not need to be an hour. The premiere episode slowed down the pace during the bonus game. "Oh look, here's your husband". 2. The announcer. I want to hear an announcer with the fire this game demands. Press Your Luck is high-energy. 3. BIG BUCKS? The top prize should be like $50k. Why is there a car that's worth 4 times the highest value on the board? 4. PUT A LOSE A WHAMMY SPACE IN ROUND 2. I see it in the bonus game, why not in the main game?
The ugly: 1. Flaws in the bonus game: A. If you earn a spin in the bonus game, it should be yours instead of forcing you to spin again. You should have a cash payout if you don't want to continue "Hey, two spins earned. If you don't want to take them, here's $X". B. There is absolutely no way anyone is going to accrue $500,000 in the bonus game. That would require a huge number of "+1 spins" to get.
2. Maybe because I'm watching this on Hulu but why aren't the options lit up on every question? 3. Sometimes the questions are too easy. "Macaroni, Socks and Bo, are pets at what Pennsylvania Avenue residence?" "Is the answer The White House, Graceland or Buckingham Palace?" Uh, Graceland is in Nashville and Buckingham Palace is in England. I know it's no fun without anyone spinning but these questions could be a little harder.

THey used to use easier questions on the 80s PYL. Later in the run in particular, If the spin count was low after the third or even sometimes the second question, a light would come on Peter's podium to tell him to use an easier question or questions for the last question or two of a round to try to get the spin count up.
