Further evidence that Buzzr is NOT trying to keep GSN from acquiring more classics. As if there wasn't enough evidence.

And, on Friday of that week, it looks as if a full color syndicated What's My Line? from 1973 is scheduled to air.
Yep, I think it's safe to declare that GSN is not giving up on Fremantle-owned classics.

There was an ad yesterday during $25,000 Pyramid for "Flashback Friday" starting this Friday at 8am, but I don't see anything different in the normal morning schedule. What gives?

I'm glad that GSN is still continuing the tradition of airing black & white shows, such as What's My Line and I've Got a Secret during the holidays, even if it is for two weeks. It's always a real treat.
Otherwise GSN is going back to a trend of shrinking the classics block. It stands at 3 hours. Frankly, I understand why GSN is doing it. Shows like Deal or No Deal, Whammy and others are considered classic by todays standards. GSN allows enough time to air the "fan favorite" retro shows for 3 hours every weekday. That's still pretty good. I think we should be happy that GSN still considers the shows on their schedule. Plus, now there is always Buzzr which I've yet to get.

Plus, now there is always Buzzr which I've yet to get. Unfortunately, with the same 40 episodes rerun abused over and over and over again, like there is no tomorrow. I fear that if this keeps up, it will turn off more and more viewers.

Also, starting on Tuesday, December 15th, most likely running through Christmas Day,the holiday-decorated Press Your Luck episodes are scheduled to air. As we all know, there were nine such episodes during that part of the run.
Christmas Week 1986 of Eubanks' Card Sharks, however, is not scheduled for that week, so I would assume it may most likely air from December 21 to 25.
That taken into consideration, I think we'll most likely be waking up to the usual classics block on GSN on Christmas Day. There may be a marathon in the evening, but most likely a 90% chance of usual programming that morning.
Sounds like GSN is drifting away from marathons for some reason.

I think a lot of cable networks are drifting more away from marathons. I think it's kind of a newer trend.

They will be airing every episode of Mythbusters starting around Christmas day. Not to mention MSNBC always airs reality shows like Lockup on weekends and holidays. CNN does it on holidays, but after awhile so they can have news. MSNBC doesn't seem like much of a news organization sometimes but they probably break in for breaking news. Some OTA channels might air marathons like antennaTV, and maybe others. I don't want to go too further off the topic of the thread...

I did learn that the blogger on GameShowNetworkNews is not online until December 17 due to personal reasons, so that may explain why there is no PDF schedule for December 21 to 25 posted as yet.
I would assume that these two things will most likely happen:
- Bob Eubanks' Card Sharks will likely be Christmas Week 1986 from December 21 to 25. - Morning classics as usual on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Just posted this today on my blog... Those freakin' schedules
Not sure exactly why, but GSN's advance schedules get a lot of attention around the game show Interwebs. Maybe people haven't noticed, but the schedules really aren't that important. GSN is always changing things at the last minute, so the advance schedules are tentative at best. That's why I have the big bold black disclaimer above the schedules in the sidebar. My not so sneaking suspicion is that the traditionalist-leaning Interwebs are eager to seize on the schedules to prove that GSN is abandoning old stuff. The few hours when GSN runs ancient shows get a vastly disproportionate amount of attention from the schedule-watchers around the web. A case in point comes from Game Show Paradise, where a fan of the old shows saw imminent disaster... Looks like December 14 is do or die for black-and-white overnight. If the next PDF comes out and no black-and-white shows prevail, then it will be safe to declare that black-and-white shows on GSN are officially done, possibly due to Buzzr, and that may be an indicator of disappointing things to come for die-hard fans of pre-1990s programming on GSN in 2016.
Well, the December 14-20 schedule came out and What's My Line and I've Got a Secret were there as usual for the holidays. The end of western civilization has been pushed back for a few weeks. As for when I post the schedules, for the last time to complainers, I post 'em as soon as I get 'em. If that's not fast enough for you, too bad. UPDATE: While GSN hasn't released the full schedule for December 21-27, much to the annoyance of some, they did post on Facebook the What's My Line and I've Got a Secret eps for the week. So I've given a link in the sidebar and a screenshot here. After all, most of the interest in the schedules seems to center on the old shows.

I think GSN may be holding off on releasing the schedules because they may still be trying to slot a marathon sometime during December 21-27, and they have not finalized it yet. Once it's finalized (though changes can happen soon before the airdate), it gets released.
Who knows, GSN may be negotiating with Sony or Fremantle to pick up select episodes of a classic or modern show for the marathon days only.

I think the more likely reason is that the nice lady who sends out the schedules took some time off. People read so much into these schedules...and they even speculate on the reasons for when the schedules come out.
