Some troubling news about The (Original) $25,000 Pyramid, which was weekly Syndicated, from The Bill Cullen Archive:
"According to a dependable source, a bona fide effort was made to pull Bill's tapes out of the vaults some years ago for reruns on Game Show Network...but the tapes couldn't be found!"
I hope it's not true that the tapes don't exist anymore. Then how did the first two episodes show up in master quality?

Given recent events, it would be interesting to see someone digitize all or part of the 1974-76 daytime run of High Rollers, but outside of Buzzr(and the tapes would be owned by MGM, not Fremantle), I doubt any network would be clamoring to air them.

I just checked this with another dependable source, and thankfully, this is not true. Viacom still has all the tapes of the series.

The original The Cross-Wits with Jack Clark doesn't exist anymore.
Steve Leblang worked for Metromedia, and confirmed this on Facebook. Fox bought out Metromedia in 1985, and wiped things left and right. Who would have guessed? He said, and I quote:
"Blame Fox for this. When they absorbed Metromedia they destroyed many masters their distribution group had in house before moving to the big lot. Original cross wits and pay cards also lost. Lord knows I urged them to find room."

It was a Facebook post on Ryan Rinkerman's page. I can't link it for some reason.

The 1986-87 version of The Cross-Witts with David Sparks is intact and aired in reruns on The Family Channel. In 2014, GSN aired 2 episodes with Rosie O’Donnell and Arsenio Hall, both ended up having their own talk shows in the 1990s.

It also aired on the now defunct AIN(American Independent Network) circa 1998. They even mentioned it was the Jack Clark version on their website, but turned out to be the Sparks version.

The equally as old Bill Armstrong Liar's Club did turn up on USA in 1986-87.

Lord knows I urged them to find room. Because I guess Metromedia junking Winchell-Mahoney Time (and seriously pissing off Paul Winchell as a result) wasn't doing enough damage to classic TV. I have to wonder if the Pay Cards mention includes Super (which was also distributed by Metromedia) or just the original 60s run. The Canadian masters of Super probably still exist given that repeats aired on CHCH well into 1993.

That kinda flies in the face of what I was told many years ago by Steve Beverly that the Ralph Edwards estate either had the masters or copies of everything he made and wasn't interested in reruns (not like Name That Tune could make it onto GSN anyway with its music clearance issues).

GSN almost, as per Stu Shostak on Stu's show, got a package of the Barker Truth or Consequences(Metromedia syndicated 1966-1974), but because of the cost, decided against it. This would probably have been around 2001-02, because that's when GSN picked up LMAD syndicated 70s, PYL, and syndicated/NBC primetime Marshall Squares. Also in 2002, Tom Kennedy was on the Today SHow to play a game of Name that Tune with Katie Couric and Co. and clips from the 70s Tune were shown.

So Amazon now owns MGM lock stock. Why am I bringing this up? Because MGM owns the Heatter-Quigley/Century Towers library, which hasn't been fully accounted for yet (we know the syndicated Hollywood Squares is intact, but Video Village, Celebrity Game, CBS Gambit, High Rollers 1975, and Battlestars are reportedly as well).
Not l'm not assuming anything will happen with these titles but it would be nice if..you know...Bezos sold them off to a company that cared (coughFREEMANTLEcough).
