Use this thread to discuss ABC's revival of To Tell The Truth, which launches next Tuesday. I'll lead off first with trivia: When Tx4 airs next week, it will join The Price is Right as the only game shows to air at some point within seven decades, from the 1950s to the 2010s ( Jeopardy! is nearby with six, beginning with the 1960s). More details on the initial episodes here (spoiler-free).

A game show with little to no sex jokes? I LOVE THIS.

A game show with little to no sex jokes? I LOVE THIS. for now. The only thing that I'm in disagreement is that each panelists asks 1 question at a time

No spoilers (mainly because I don't know any), but from what I've been reading each hour consists of one episode rather than two half-hour ones, as is the case with Family Feud and The $100,000 Pyramid. Anthony Anderson even pulled the tired "Will the real [name] please stand up...right after this break!" method of padding. A game show with little to no sex jokes? I LOVE THIS. for now. Agreed, partly since the last series didn't exactly shy away from "sex sells" (especially not in its pilot, if this taping report is any indication, although from what I've read only clips of it were screened at NATPE 2000).

I stopped myself from watching the first edition of the new "To Tell the Truth" to be broadcast yesterday shortly after its host used a rude abbreviation in reference to some of its contestants.

I thought the two episodes last night were pretty entertaining, but was it ever mentioned if the three contestants from each story win anything? If so, I missed it. I hope the game is not just being played so a celebrity can avoid an embarrassing tweet.

I too was a bit disappointed by the questioning being done like WML's blindfold round, and I didn't hear any mention of winnings or compensation for the players either!
Dis-a-POINTED!!!

Anthony Anderson even pulled the tired "Will the real [name] please stand up...right after this break!" method of padding. But at least it's not before every reveal, which would be a little bit of a turn-off for me. I did like the segment with the champion texter. One of the impostors was a champion pole dancer, and the panel had to guess which impostor it was. Made it interesting. Also, love how the impostors have a tie-in occupation with the real person.

I'm watching the first episode now and I'm really enjoying this for the most part. That Taylor Swift's boyfriend game has one of the funniest end results I've ever seen on this show. Also Betty's still got the wit, the jokes, the charm... all of it. Loved the clip montage at the beginning. I'm not a fan of the theme music but that's a minor issue.

...and I didn't hear any mention of winnings or compensation for the players either! Dis-a-POINTED!!! Well, this season, Anthony Anderson has cleared it up. "Now there's no money for the winner, but there is something for the loser." In other words, there isn't anything in it for the central figure, nor the impostors. Extremely Dis-a-POINTED!!!

To Tell the Truth was never about the money.
I guess this is so since something for the loser, there will be no recusing themselves

It was a game show, therefore, there WAS money involved. The players, whether central figure or imposter, were always paid equally, depending on the votes from the panel.
And when Anthony said "something for the loser" he was clearly talking about the panel.

As per Thejeopardyfan.com, Alex Trebek will be a panelist on the 6/24/2018 episode of TTTT at 10PM Sunday night on ABC. He'll be returning To Tell the Truth after having hosted it for four months 27 years ago. Outside of an appearance on Celebrity Poker Showdown a few years ago, ALex hasn't done a game show as a panelist since doing Squares, Celebrity Bowling, and To Say the Least in the 70s.
