I didnt see this before, so here, you can talk about the newest Match Game revival that aired last night. What are your thoughts? No spoilers please.

I liked it, thought it was much better than the '90 or '98 versions, although I found JB Smoove to be a bit annoying. Alec Baldwin did a great job hosting.

I am really enjoying it so far. Though that first question out the box being about sex was a bit much. I really like the questions though. Alec reminds me alot of Gene Rayburn. Hell this version reminds me alot of Rayburn's version, which is a great thing. Match Game '16 gets a 9 out of 10 from me. I think it might be better than the Rayburn one.

I dont watch feud anymore (damn you GSN) so I really don't know what it's like now. I prefer this MG over the original 70s one (never thought I'd say that)

I never got to see it yet, but I was amazed to discover this morning on Facebook all the good reviews the new Match Game received. I may see if I can catch the premiere if it appears on YouTube, but as for my remark, I agree that this series may trump Rayburn's episodes.
I did learn on Facebook that ABC dominated the ratings last night, overshadowing The Simpsons and Family Guy on FOX. It wouldn't surprise me if Match Game 2016 gets renewed as a regular series this fall or by 2017. Heck, if a renewal does happen, I bet The Simpsons and Family Guy may likely get the ax by 2018 at the latest.

I thought Match Game was pretty good, for a modernized version. They did a great job with the set modernizing it with a 70's feel. The music is still the same pretty much. The celebrities didn't really try too hard I don't think, I thought they were pretty good.
Alec Baldwin did alright, too.

I was pretty impressed by this, not any major gripes at all. I really was not excited to hear Alec Baldwin was hosting this but I have to say, he did a good job here. The Simpsons and Family Guy are now in reruns for the summer, and while new Match Game has done great (and probably greater than expected), there's nothing that will get those two animated shows off of Fox at this point.

I just wish they bought something back from the 98 version, the scoring system. Speaking of the 98, I wonder if Rondel is watching at home saying Have you seen the game before. Do you want to win?...

Trust me. NOTHING should be brought back from that epic fail.

By all indication, though, Match Game '98 was a major improvement over the unsold 1996 pilot, MG2. (Link's to a review, though; as far as I know, there's no photos or footage online, although someone did take this picture of a question card years after the fact.)

I believe the 1989 Bert Convy pilot had a scoring format somewhat like the MG '98 format where all celebrities played each question. I think in the '89 pilot though, it was 3 rounds with matches in the first two rounds worth 1 point each and 3rd round matches worth 2 pts. each, whereas MG '98 was only two rounds with matches worth 1 and 2 points respectively. MG '90 would have been a lot better with the pilot scoring than the money scoring/Match-Up rounds they ended up going with.
