For Rita Moreno tonight, they stated that she appeared 110 times, and showed a clip from a 1982 episode. So let's recap here: $10,000 CBS: 20 $10,000 ABC: 15 $25,000 SYN: 8 $20,000 ABC: 30 $50,000: 5 $25,000 CBS: 29 $100,000 '85: 5 $100,000 '91: 5 $100,000 '16: 1 Uh-oh. Did they skip over the original $25,000 version, which was weekly? Because that's the only thing that could justify Michael stating that the count is 110. The reason the CBS 25K is at 29 is because one of her weeks was January 3-6, 1984 (no Monday episode that week).

I have seen people say the Strahan version is the best revival so far, but I strongly disagree. I consider the Richards version to be the best.
One reason is that the new version has too many risqué clues, detracting from the intellectual nature of the game. But, the biggest reason is the tiebreaker rules. I strongly disagree with those who say it is a minor change. I believe its impact is very far-reaching and significantly harms the show, making this version little better than the Osmond version.
I along with many others thought the Osmond format involving 6 words in 20 seconds made the time pressure excessive and the game pace too frenetic, while other formats involving 7 words in 30 seconds made the game pace and time pressure more reasonable. But, it seems that the current tiebreaker rules largely negate that advantage, since they clearly pressure teams into getting all 7 words as fast as possible, under 20 seconds if possible, in every single round. Especially when there was a 21-21 tie in the era in which the winner won $5,000 or a car, the extra excitement and pressure was fun, but only because the whole game was not like that. On the new Version, every single round of every single game is like that. It gets tiring.
The rule change yields its worst absurdities when applied to imperfect score ties, which are the vast majority. The current scheme favors a long time without a correct answer at the end of a round as opposed to earlier in the round, which is quite strange and arbitrary. Related to this is that it matters a great deal whether a given word comes up early in the round or later. It obviously can have some role in any situation, but the current tiebreaker rule makes it matter more than it should.
Another reason is that sometimes one reason for using less time is because one giver was cuckooed while the other time spent time trying to get the missed word. Even without the new tiebreaker rule, a cuckoo can turn out to be a blessing in allowing more time to get another answer. But, the tiebreaker makes it more likely to be a blessing than it should be and a greater blessing than it should be when it is one.
These reasons among others were presumably the reasons that time was only relevant during the earlier versions if the first team in the tie-breaker had scored 7/7. If both teams scored 6 points (or a lower number), time was not relevant. It did not matter who said the sixth (or lower number) answer first. Another tiebreaker round had to be played. It should be the same for the current version.
Some say the new rule is justified by editing concerns. I recognize it can be an issue. My favorite episodes tend to be ones with several ties, but I admit that editing them in a smooth manner must have been a challenge.
However, if only the deciding tiebreaker is shown, I think it could probably be included in the new version. There also should not be any need to air any with more than two tiebreakers. Any two shows can be paired, so if one show has two ties, there would seem to be no problem with pairing it with one with no ties (of which there seem to be many more) and dividing the editing if necessary.

I learned on Facebook that Rita Moreno will be one of the celebs from the classic series for season 3. Well, it's just one from the classic series, but that's better than nothing. The closest thing to this happening a second time, apparently happened just recently, as Jason Alexander - who appeared on three weeks of Davidson Pyramid in 1991, one being its last - was on here on the Season 6 premiere on July 10. (Second half, matched up against Wayne Knight.)

I have no idea if there is gonna be a Season 8.
And for one of the episodes from Season 7, I felt they weren’t even trying. For whatever reason, instead of taping a match with two new celebrities, they recycled one of the pre-existing matches, Rosie O’Donnell & Jason Alexander, and taped new intros and outros with Michael, something I didn’t even noticed until I compared both episodes on Hulu.
