I figure this should be here, because it's probably going to cover a wide variety of shows.
We should really compile a list of documentaries made about game shows. Whether they're about shows, contestants, or scandals. Who wants to help put this together?

I remember hearing about the documentary film Quiz Show, released in September 1994. The documentary covered quiz show scandals during the old days (mainly the 1950s) and among the scandals included rigging. I am not sure if Jack Barry was one of the names mentioned in this documentary, but it wouldn't surprise me if he did get mentioned to say the least, given he and Dan Enright (the latter of whom died two years before the film's release) were named in said rigging scandals that may have ripped contestants off trying to offer prizes and do setups to allow for more controlled losses just to retain money. It makes me wonder if the people involved in the rigging scandals were doing such activity for the purpose of stealing money?
At least NBC did step in and put a stop to the rigging scandals, though I have a feeling Mark Goodson may have been rigging shows such as Card Sharks and The Price is Right in the 1980s and CBS never caught them yet. But at least they were not rigging for financial gain.
In the wake of the release of the movie Quiz Show, Michael Larson of Press Your Luck fame made his first TV appearance since he appeared on Press Your Luck in 1984, on ABC's Good Morning America. His Press Your Luck appearance may have been revealed on ABC at that time. It would be his last public appearance since he was diagnosed with throat cancer at the time of the interview, and he passed away over four years later.

One of the first game show documentaries was one from 1976 about the making of Let's Make a Deal called $Deal$. Monty Hall later disowned it.

I remember hearing about the documentary film Quiz Show, released in September 1994. It's a docudrama that focused solely on Twenty-One and those involved with its rigging. It's got some good elements but takes a lot of liberties with what really happened, most notably suggesting that anybody believed Herb Stempel in '56 when he said he took a dive (particularly bad given that said person is Richard Goodwin, whose book the film was adapted from and who in reality had almost nothing to do with the scandal investigations). You'd be better off watching PBS' American Experience episode on the scandals and/or reading Wikipedia's "1950s quiz show scandals" article. It makes me wonder if the people involved in the rigging scandals were doing such activity for the purpose of stealing money? The main purpose was to put on a good "show", getting huge ratings and thus revenue. At least NBC did step in and put a stop to the rigging scandals Not just NBC - Congress amended the Communications Act of 1934 to prohibit the fixing of quiz shows and all other contests, hence why Standards & Practices exists. I have a feeling Mark Goodson may have been rigging shows such as Card Sharks and The Price is Right in the 1980s Goodson never rigged his shows. Ever.

The Game Show Biz, which was produced in 1987, is a really good one.
