Because of class I'll probably miss the first 5-10 minutes of tomorrow's show - but hopefully I'll be viewing most of it nonetheless.

I can't WAIT to see the delicious tears flowing from the "fans" from "that other place" after tomorrow's episode is finished. It's going to be HILARIOUS! Also sad at the same. >_>

Trying to watch this show has been a pain.
Segment 1: Missed due to class
Segment 2: Watched fine
Segment 3: Interrupted by local press conference
Segment 4+: Roommate talking over the whole thing with his girlfriend at home.

You think watching this show was bothersome, try recapping it! Seriously, this one just about broke me -- and it actually had very little to do with the actual results this time too. Honestly, as a fan I thought it was a fun experiment, but as a recapper... I hope they never do this again. It's just too mind-numbingly monotonous.

Spoiler-proofing in case anyone hasn't seen it yet. From what I was at least able to see, not hear, mind you (unfortunately the sole 10,000 hit came while WTAJ had interrupted for a presser on a trooper who had been shot and killed; prayers to his family) - yeah, this did get quite repetitive - and as a luck-based game, way too much potential for disappointment, which we wound up with.
But I liked the mix-up of the format. It'd be cool to see some prizes on the board for the purpose of variety.

I mean, besides the $11K + ATV win, fans are going to call this "five losses". One of them was definitely a loss. But be thankful you wound up with five people leaving with something out of the game.

There's a reason Price works as an hourlong show while Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud, when they've tried it, didn't. Now more than ever, I'm convinced that one of the key factors in Price's longevity is its variety, the fact that the seventy-plus games they keep in the active rotation at any given point really help make it seem like an entirely different show every day. And make no mistake, it is the Pricing Games that are the centerpiece of the entire show... the elements that do stay the same from day to day -- Contestant's Row, the Big Wheel, the Showcases -- are ultimately just window dressing. The appeal lies in the fact you can have a pure game of chance one moment, followed by a tough coin flip based on mathematics the next, and yet a third involving skill, speed, and/or even some manual dexterity after that, and it somehow never seems like the show is running the same circles... even though, if you stop to examine it closely and dispassionately, it actually is.
We had that essential variety taken away from us today, and that made this episode a bit of a chore to sit through. Plinko fans have wanted a day like this for decades, now... well, you know what they say about "be careful what you wish for." Today, they got it, and whether or not that's a good thing is going to be a highly subjective matter, but I do think pulling this sort of stunt does expose some flaws in the supposed "crown jewel" that is Plinko. For one, it can be horribly anticlimactic if it goes wrong; for another, it doesn't hold up to repeated playings in such quick succession; and for a third, one's brain quickly goes numb trying to juggle all those small prizes and keep everything straight. I do think having the bonus prizes on the board helped, however, and I like the way they did them; I wouldn't mind that element coming back in some form. But there's a reason why we never saw Price repeat a game in the same episode in all of the 41+ years before today -- not even when there were only five or six games total in the rotation -- and why they're frequently so gun-shy about even having games with similar themes in the same lineup (you'll virtually never see Dice Game and Let 'em Roll slotted together, for example, nor were Poker Game, Hit Me, and/or Card Game ever featured on the same day; it's also why you don't see more than one GP or SP game per episode, except in extremely rare and extraordinary circumstances).

Today's episode was disappointing in my eyes. I feel it was worth a try, but the outcomes are what killed it for me. It also got repetitive and it wore me out too. Would I like to see them try something like this again? Yes, I actually would. Should they do it for Plinko again? Eh, maybe not. Maybe they should try this for Golden Road (wishful thinking; of course like TK said, be careful what you wish for). It's a shame today didn't go well, but I applaud TPIR for trying something like this. I know not a lot of people will agree with me here, but you've gotta admit it's a way better reaction than that of the Golden Fanboys (and thank goodness the worst of them all, Wayoshi, finally got banned from that place; sorry, I had to say it).

Haven't gotten all the way to the end of the episode yet but I have found myself not really in love with it either. Some of the rounds being disappointing didn't help matters.
I would say in the end though, this was obviously unorthodox but I'll give the show some credit for an attempt to do something new/fresh AND acknowledge history at the same time.

One more spoiler about today's show, and I'll hear any and all rebuttals against this. Qwizx actually said that there was an 0fer today, despite $10K being hit in one of the rounds. What the hell constitutes a win in Plinko?

Obviously they want the max to be a win? That's kind of stupid. Be a little more lenient, you stupid site. Grrr.

There are, so far as I know, three ways to look at a Plinko "win": There's the official show definition, which says specifically that the maximum prize of $50,000 must be won; there's my fudge rule, which I inherited from G-R, where the game's won if just one chip lands in the $10K slot; and there's what the tpirsummaries site goes by, which is similar to my rule except it mandates two chips going for the top value instead of just one. Quizx could be using either the official definition or the tpirsummaries one. (The "partial win" is something new I'm trying this year, for games where a player can lose the overall game yet still end up with at least one decent prize for his or her efforts. It basically encompasses the bailouts some games offer and extends their reach to include games like Any Number, Race Game, Golden Road, and Plinko. There are more besides; I'll explain them as the affected games come around in the rotation.)
