Well, John Ricci Jr (who worked on the 2006 attempt) is onboard And that's the part that scares me.

A revival of a classic game show, and near everyone's pretty much shitting on it before it's even on TV. I'm not going to pull a ladykelsey and say it's going to be a success, but will some of you watch this before giving your opinion on it? Even if it's two or three people, really. Yes?

A revival of a classic game show, and near everyone's pretty much shitting on it before it's even on TV. I think it's that there's a ton of precedent for screwing up revivals in the past 25 years, and just hearing "it's The Joker's Wild but we're adding stuff to it and making it more comedic" is enough to ruffle a few feathers. (I would've said "the past 20 years", but that would've excluded three by-all-accounts terrible-but-thankfully-unsold pilots from 1996.) Personally, I don't have a problem with Snoop hosting, since he was fun to watch on The Price Is Right during that 2012 Celebrity Week (mainly because he was clearly more interested than Drew in what was going on). Well, John Ricci Jr (who worked on the 2006 attempt) is onboard And that's the part that scares me. And why is that? (Granted, I don't much care for the guy either.)

JRJ has made his own pilots, worked on the attempted 2006 revival that didn't get picked up due to the NBC O&Os not liking KingWorld's deal, is friends with Wink Martindale, and has been working on the current run of Pyramid. We shouldn't have anything to fear, as he should be at least attempting to keep it a little bit faithful, and why don't you care for him? He seems pretty awesome, and he's doesn't seem to be a jerk.

why don't you care for [John]? He seems pretty awesome, and he's doesn't seem to be a jerk. He's accomplished a lot, and I'm not taking that away from him. He just comes across to me as really smug. We shouldn't have anything to fear, as he should be at least attempting to keep it a little bit faithful, I was just asking Bryce why John's association with this scares him. The only thing I'm concerned with about this revival is whether it'll be "pretty much in name only" like the 1990s version was.

Well for one thing, the smugness... and also, isn't he known for mucking up formats he brings back?

I'm not sure on that- we still don't have any confirmation on what the 06 TJW pilot was gonna be like (someone on the Game Show Wiki said it was like in the 70s-80s but with beefed-up cash amounts and a chance at a luxury car in Face the Devil; I'm not sure if that's true, though), Scrabble Showdown was mainly based on Hasbro's increasingly crazy Scrabble spinoffs (it was only like the 80s round for Lightning), and he's been working on the current Pyramid (and worked on the 2012 GSN run, which was a back to basics reboot), so I'm hoping it in him to at least keep part of it faithful.

As per Buzzerblog on Facebook, we now know when it launches, but the official launch date and time is to be announced. It looks as if there may be a female model in this revival, and if true, that would be a first for The Joker's Wild. Based on the Facebook posts, it may have good potential. Hopefully it will be far better than the 1990-1991 revival.

Guy looks like the kind of pimp that you would go to if you wanted a companion for the night, and make sure you get your own balloons for your protection.
This might be better than I thought, it at least looks fairly true to the 1970s series, but I'm still a tad hesitant to consider Snoop as a bona fide game show host.
Irony alert: This is my 420th post, that's right. I can't escape the mary jane references.
