So it's evident that GSN has leased at least 170 episodes of Press Your Luck and most likely Eubanks' Card Sharks as well.
Makes me wonder if we'll end up seeing Jim Hess before the end of May?

5/17's GSN morning airing of PYL is episode 200 with Allen VIcky Brad as contestant, which last aired when this lease began on 9/29/2016. Looks like they circled back.

Gregory Pearsoll says it's possible the reason GSN isn't airing the final three months is because the tapes are all damaged beyond repair, and also says USA didn't air the final month from September 1986. I guess it never occurred to him that likely USA chose not to air the final month. How do three months worth of episodes from Summer 1986 get damaged beyond repair? That doesn't make any sense.
Then again, this is the same Gregory Pearsoll who says he heard rumors about September 1983-May 1985 $25,000 Pyramid being damaged beyond repair, which I also question.

Vahan posted the following on my Facebook profile, which may explain why certain episodes of PYL won't air on GSN and/or Buzzr:
Now that I think about it, that could explain why USA never aired the September 1986 episodes. They could have had shorter commercial breaks after losing a lot of affiliates, which yielded longer running times - a telltale sign that CBS was going to surrender the time slot to local affiliates soon by that point. If this is true, then we can kiss those final three months goodbye.

CardSharksFan8689 , This episode begs to differ. So no, don't kiss those final three months goodbye just yet. Runtime is about the same here, as on most episodes, with and without commercials. I hope this makes you reconsider your theory right now.

Dear Mr. Bob Iger,
I have a proposal for The Walt Disney Company: a big-screen Biopic titled "Press Your Luck."
In its present, idea stage, "Press Your Luck" tells the true story of Michael Paul Larsen, an unemployed ice cream truck driver from Lebanon, Ohio who on May 19, 1984 taped an episode of the hit '80s CBS Television Network game show "Press Your Luck," earning over $110,000 in cash and prizes; due to network policy of the time, Michael was forced to retire after a single appearance due to the network's $25,000 limit on game show cash prizes.
Eventually for Michael, things took a turn for the worse: before "Press Your Luck's" cancellation, Michael lost every cent he won in an investment deal gone bad; his then-wife, Teresa, left him and took everything that mattered to him; and in 1994, at age 45, Michael was diagnosed with Throat Cancer--a disease that would kill him at age 49 in 1999, months prior to what would have been his 50th Birthday that year.
In a short-lived "Press Your Luck" revival, titled "Whammy!: The All-New Press Your Luck," hosted by Todd Newton, a rematch game was played with Michael's brother, James, taking place of his late brother, along with original contestants Ed Long, a Church Pastor, and Janie Litras-Dakin, a Dental Hygienist (at least at the time of the original 1984 taping).
Taping ran so long that weeks later, in June 1984, Michael's episode of "Press Your Luck" was split into 2 separate 30-minute episodes--a rarity in a game-show 2-parter (not including 2-part "Jeopardy!" tournament finals).
My suggestion, Bob, is that Disney release "Press Your Luck" under the Touchstone Pictures banner (which has released nothing since last Fall's "The Light Between Oceans" with DreamWorks Pictures when Disney's DreamWorks distribution agreement expired) on December 13, 2019 in theaters everywhere with a PG-13 rating for Profanity, with a Script Written and Directed by Nicolas Cage (whose real-life uncle, Francis Ford Coppola, is a successful movie director in his own right).
Among the pure casting suggestions include the following:
Bill Murray as Michael Paul Larsen Teri Garr as Teresa Larsen Andrew Lowery as Peter Tomarken John Goodman as Rod Roddy Emilio Estevez as Ed Long Robert Redford as Bill Carruthers My suggestion is that filming begin on June 15, 2018 at CBS Television City in Los Angeles, California for the "Press Your Luck" re-enactment scenes, with later filming later that Summer at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California (for the home scenes of Teresa and Michael Larsen) with a December 13, 2019 theatrical release date.
Sincerely, Steve Arino

Pre-Christmas, Casey posted this on his blog: Link: Mr. Larson returns [Game Show Follies] Hmmm. Interesting. He has zero idea if this is a new production of Big Bucks, or if it's going to be heavily modified. Remember - Big Bucks promoted the GSN original Whammy. I'll make a thread in the GSN board (closer to the air date) if anyone's going to watch this.

I watched Ep. 004 of Press Your Luck on GameTV yesterday afternoon, and I noticed, during the first question round, Peter was trying to read a question related to the film Star Wars (the one where the screen text showed Chubaca instead of Chewbacca), and he almost said Star Words, but corrected himself quickly afterwards. I wonder if Peter Tomarken knew about the Star Words pilot that was taped at CBS Television City earlier in 1983, and he knew that Star Words was a contender to replace Child's Play, only for Press Your Luck to win that slot?

They may have been played a lot of times, but I'm enjoying the 1984 episodes and the way they've been presented on Buzzr. Episodes run normal, full credits are presented, and the Skyway Luggage plug is usually presented.
When GSN last ran these episodes, they skipped all the Holiday shows, and, for some reason, episode #319. Buzzr usually airs Holiday shows regularly, and a lot of episodes in general that used to air on GSN early on have resurfaced on Buzzr.

Makes me wonder if the Skyway Luggage plug will be kept intact when GameTV gets around to airing the Spring 1984 episodes?
And what is the CBS airdate for the earliest Buzzr broadcast to feature the Skyway Luggage plug? I am thinking it was sometime in April 1984, but it could have been a tad earlier.

The Skyway Luggage plug first appeared on October 20, 1983, but we don't actually see it on Buzzr until the October 31, 1983 show.
And as you already know, the plug for some studio audience members was moved to after Peter signed off on December 19, 1984.

I got a question, regarding the April 12 and 13, and June 5, 1984 episodes skipped by Buzzr, do you suppose GSN had no problem airing those episodes because of the network's cutting off of end credits and splitscreen promo, and maybe speed-ups, if so minor to the extent of being unnoticeable?
I did just read a comment on YouTube that GSN used to speed up Press Your Luck in the past, but discontinued such practice when they aired the September 1983-February 1984 and November 1985-May 1986 episodes.

GSN did do a lot of speeding up on classic shows in the early 2000s, it was commented about a lot on alt.tv.game-shows. I guess they still do some of it now, but not as much as in the past.

No, only Match Game has speed-ups now.
