Thanks. So would the airdates be December 19-21; 24, 1979? I think Bosheff Vs. Smith was Christmas Day, right? I think 77-049 might be Matheney Vs. Lawson, but I'm not 100% sure. You're right about the 1979 air dates Vahan and Matheney vs. Lawson is actually April 6, 1977.

Here's a revised list of the first 49 episodes taped in 1977. I think tapings might have actually begun with Cato/Chapin from February 2, 1977. Which would also mean there were two preemptions by October 18, one of them being the Rona Barrett special on April 14. Ivory, don't forget about the Carter preemption on January 20. Also, Mathney/Lawson was the only 1977 episode in that Valentine's Day marathon with the old face-off buzzers.
Here's the revised list:

Here's two questions I just thought of: After Debralee Scott had a solo win on an hour-long special (taped: November 4, 1979, aired: February 18, 1980), Richard said that she was the fourth player overall to do that. I know the other two were Sheila of the Odum Family (ABC Daytime) and Steve of the Sullivan Family (ABC Daytime), who was the other one?
There were five families who retired undefeated prior to the Guice Family. I know three of them (Larkey in 1976, Dodge in 1979 and Tack in 1980), but I don't know the other two. Who were they?

There were 6 families who went undefeated before the Guice family went undefeated in 6 days. Larkey in 1976 Wilkins were the 2nd in 1979. Then the Frietas and the Kelley's who became the top winners at that point. The Dodge family became the 2nd highest winners. Then The Tack and Guice family. The Frietas were not the top winners, the Wilkins were. The Frietas appeared on the syndicated version in 1982. They played against the Harada family, which appeared on the ABC daytime version in 1980. Going back to the top winners, the Murphy family were retired undefeated in 1981, followed by the Thomas family, the Ugoretz family in 1983, and the Rezzo family in 1985.

So if the Frietas didn't play in 1979, then who was it who retired that year that we don't know? Also, didn't the Frietas play against the Wilkins in 1979?

Yes, the Frietas did play against the Wilkins in 1979. The Frietas lost to the Wilkins. The Wilkins became the 2nd family to retire undefeated. The next family was the Dodge family, followed by the Kelley family, also from 1979.

Does anybody have tips on finding an episode? My mom was on the show in 1979 (Wiesjahn), from what Ive found they played the Keough family and the MacPhee family. Id love to find/buy the episodes to give to her. They lost their copy in the early 90s.

The Dodge family was the second highest winningest family up to the time they retired undefeated who was the highest...........the Kelley family retired undefeated before the Dodge family, Larkeys won $29,170 3 years earlier. Actually, the Dodge ladies retired undefeated only weeks before the Kelley family retired undefeated. The Kelley family was on in October 1979, the Dodge ladies were on in early-mid September 1979.

As for the other four families who retired undefeated that we don't know yet, I'm sure GSN showed them. I'll be shocked if they didn't.
