One month later, and I'm making some significant progress in the actual conversion stage of things (as of late, Name's the Same, TTTT '90, P+ from certain points in 1980-82, '60's WML, Card Sharks from later in Buzzr's runs, IGaS (including the Johnny Carson tribute episodes from 2005; these are the last Winston-sponsored ones GSN has shown to date), J!, H2, Pyramid). It's got to be several hundred episodes that I've done so far in these last several months. I'm going to make a bit of a temporary rest with this at the end of the month. My DVD recorder and SVHS VCR will probably appreciate it. While I do other things I'm going to get some things to organize what I've got. I've got about a box full of DVDs that are now converted and ready to be organized, and in turn a box is filling with tapes X'ed out that have been done. Still finding a solution for tapes that are playing with tracking issues on my newer VCR since my old JVC one died on me. The listings for used ones either similar to the one I had or the exact ones come and go on various websites. Whenever I get an extra amount of money, I'll be sure to grab one so long as it's presented in good condition. I prefer to keep stuff originally recorded in HiFi sound and so forth to remain that way without any visual or aural interference. It's weird. I've got tapes recorded 2004 and 2005 that play perfectly fine, but the ones from 2009, 2010... they're the ones giving me issues. Hey there, Wild Jack.
This isn't to rush you at all, by all means, please take your time and when you're ready to start trading again, I would like to propose a trade with you. There are a few things I saw in your collection I would like to receive and would like to offer you longer, bonus content in exchange for the episodes you have in your collection. Again, no need to rush anything, this is just a heads-up for when you are ready. Thanks.

After about 3 months off, I did a disc of Treasure Hunt episodes the other day. About to start doing some more converting in the near future as soon as I a) get some of this extra Buzzr stuff off my TiVo and b) find a good universal remote for my DVD recorder. The pause button is all but kaput on the main one and I don't feel like spending $35+ on a new exact model remote control. It's one thing to keep original commercials in but commercials from GSN circa 2007-08 or so just aren't worth the extra disc space. I can fit 6 20 to 21-minute GSN episodes of a show per disc.
I'm also going to have to figure out what to do with these tapes that don't play as well without the JVC VCR that quit working on me.

those editing of commericals is a real pain. What I ended up doing was having an episode be like 4 tracks This is what I have had to do with Buzzr shows, which I hate, because it's nice having a 5-day week on one disc. I haven't had any luck finding a universal remote that works with this particular unit I have as of yet. Also fast forwarding on tape and skipping the commercials on the TiVo and that being left in on the final recording looks so tacky to me (although you can of course edit that out if you digitize the file). With that stuff I'm about to say to hell with it and just rip them to my computer and edit them that way. I've got dozens of episodes of Supermarket Sweep and Password Plus on my box and I need to get them off.
As I'm doing more DVD conversion again, I'm trying to switch up the shows/genres of stuff that I have so I don't get sick of one thing and end up not wanting to do it for a while. Probably going to still be a while before this is done though. Last fall I did about 150+ episodes of Super Password I had (and it's easy to do when stuff has no commercials to skip over) and I became tired of it; as much as I adore the show. I picked back up on it again just yesterday and did one full tape of it.
Aside from that recently as far as game shows go I've also done Game Show Marathon, a couple of game show specials, and some Karn Feud. I'm going to do some more of Perry CS from 1981 today if this tape cooperates.

Got a new remote control for my DVD recorder last week. It's funny because I had seen one on a website that was over $35 and thought, well, I don't want to spend this much money for a remote right now. Only to spend money on a couple of different universal remotes that didn't work for the unit I have. I happened to search once more on amazon for a remote and I found a replacement one for the recorder I have... and it ended up being $10.

One update I have with some of my conversion process: I did get a new shelf and some storage materials to put my discs in. Also, in even better news: I was able to figure out how to adjust something in one of the VCRs I have leftover and fix the tracking issues I had with a large number of tapes of mine this morning as I keep converting and digitizing my videotapes. One good thing to come out of any and all downtime I'm going to have at home. I'll be able to get a lot more done over time.
This is great because there's a lot of Perry CS from far outside of Buzzr's windows and Clark Pyramid and a lot of goodies from 2008+ that GSN aired and I couldn't handle converting at first without tracking issues or having to turn the HiFi off, which a lot of times creates muffled audio.

Another update: I had an issue with one of my main VCRs and didn't have a whole lot of extra money to get a different one, so I had to put some conversion on hold for a while. But I lucked out because recently I managed to find a used JVC VCR which is the exact same type of model as the one that I had all of those years that most of these tapes were recorded with, which means I should have less tracking problems and other issues of that veracity in the future.
I see that Buzzr is getting into the summer 1985 episodes of Body Language that GSN showed back in 2008 so I'm just going to end up keep rerecording them from there. That was one of the shows I had to put on hold because those tapes play with tracking problems on other VCRs and I try to avoid tracking lines and buzzing audio if at all possible. So I'll be back on it soon enough.

I had to move a long time ago and most of our electronics had to be in storage for a while. That old JVC was working mostly great for over a decade even with about regular daily usage, until I pulled it out of there. Right before the end it would take forever to power on, and at the very end a tape was stuck in and I couldn't get it out and I basically had to break it in order to get it out because it stopped working altogether. Most of our electronics that were in storage eventually seemed to die for some reason. I don't know why that is. I'm just glad I think I can make this work. I have to get all of the latest Buzzr stuff off my TiVo though first. I had to study for an exam 1-2 weeks ago, so I've been somewhat backed up with shows like Blockbusters and Sale of the Century. I also just powered through about 15 episodes of Now You See It between yesterday and now. This is one of those situations where I love having a Chromebook because I can stream other things while getting this done at the same time.
It's really the Sony stuff like Clark Pyramid and Bergeron Hollywood Squares, and J!, etc. that I'm most eager to do. Plus I've still got some stuff like Perry CS from 1981 that's probably not going to air on Buzzr for a while.

So far I'm having success. This tape of Perry CS from 1981 is playing great. I'm even able to leave the Hi-Fi on. I've tried a couple other tapes and I might have to just have mono audio for them, but I'd rather have that than fuzzy audio and a jumpy picture on top of that on another VCR because the tracking can't be adjusted. I figure I can amplify the audio where needed when it's time to digitize these.

So I just wanted to post why there hasn't been any update for a while. I had to move back in 2021 and my physical collection has been in storage since. So things have been put on hold indefinitely. But I do intend on getting back in the swing of things when I get a new place of my own. I did make a bunch of additional progress before I left.

You like totally (and suddenly) disappeared from Game Show Flashback on Facebook. I hardly hear from you there anymore.
