Was this uncensored on GSN airings? Having said that, there's one other episode where John Astin does this (I forgot the episode number) and Buzzr left it uncensored!
Yeah, just saw it the other night, #293. But the CONTEXT was different. The puzzle was not referencing a slavery-era tv show. So it's not really just the word alone that's getting blanked out, so to speak. In this later episode (also with the Astins!), it was established with first clue "Red" that they were doing Spanish equivalents and Allen later made a comment like "you wanna play it in Spanish? ok, we'll play it in Spanish!", most likely to help relax any concerns. An audio dump like this is still a lot better than a full episode skip. We all know what he said but now it can't "do any damage" and we still get to watch the whole thing.

Thanks for the episode number for the other instance of John Astin using "Negro". I think you may be correct on the "context" thing, but the issue is, Buzzr often skips or censors Password episodes where "Midget" or "Oriental" are used as clues or passwords, even when they're not being used in offensive contexts. I also know #323 was skipped due to the "GEORGE WALLACE" puzzle having "Crippled" as a clue. Again, wasn't even being used in an offensive context or an insulting way, only a descriptive matter for the puzzle answer, as George Wallace was wheelchair-bound by 1980.
I think Buzzr needs to be realize that classic game show episodes are gonna have dated terms and descriptors in them and that censoring them isn't going to please a lot of people.

Do we know what the guidelines are for a "TV-G" rated program that also gets broadcast to general public over-the-air? (GSN being cable only) This certainly may play a factor. Avoiding fines for improper content and/or viewer outrage (parents watching with children) is good business. Personally, yeah, I think things should run as they were and it gets a pass for being vintage (essentially "historic"). I see and hear much worse stuff in an episode of The Three Stooges.

Today they aired Match Game SYN 79 184 and 192 instead of their 80 version on the schedule again. This is unlikely to be fixed because they seemingly converted the episodes a second time and have them mislabeled.

Yeah, that could be one reason why they're stricter than GSN, but I still think they could just instead bump the rating up to "TV-PG" on these episodes, with disclaimers about their content like the ones you see on GameTV in Canada, which could potentially eliminate this issue (I'm not an expert on US TV ratings guidelines, so I'm not sure if this is feasible).
Like, purging a whole Ca$hword segment from one Super Password episode just because the celebrity gave a clue of "Blackface" (something Buzzr could have easily muted) for "Minstrel" is going way too far in my opinion. Why even bother airing the episode if you're going remove a whole segment of game play? For me, it's ruins the episode.

TrickyMario7654 It's not like Dick Gautier was going "OMG, I love blackface and minstrel shows! They're the coolest ever!"

Match Game SYN fresh again, per a recent schedule update. Pray Buzzr remembers it continued during the 1981-1982 Season.

New BUZZR schedule just up today (Dec 16th-22nd 2024). Classic Concentration episodes up to Episode 200 (1988 era) on Monday-Friday. Classic Concentration episodes up to Episode 816 (1990 era, Two Strikes 2.0 format) on Saturday and Sunday. Looks like they're really going to be taking their time over the Xmas season.

Other changes from the week of 12/16/2024 (Not an inclusive list):
- SP is no longer fresh with the 1987 shows, and reverts to 60 minutes in the morning (11 AM - 12 PM), with SP dropped from the 10:30 AM slot. - Beginning with the 11:30 AM slot on 12/18, SP runs episodes 1085-1089, which is fresh, AFAIK. - Daily SP & CC added at 12:30 PM & 2:30 PM, respectively.

It's clear they're ringing in both Betty White Christmas and general Christmas episodes.
They've also brought back Tattletales (in addition to being in memory of Chuck Woolery) for the occasion.
1085-1089 have been shown before last July.

1085-1089 have been shown before last July. Thank you, I had missed theses episodes as fresh in my notes from July. The dates were July 15-17, 2024 from 12-1 PM on July 15 & 16 and 12 PM only on July 17.
For the record, here is an up-to-date list of the fresh BUZZR debuts of "out-of-sequence" SP episodes. These episodes are sometimes skipped during "not fresh" rerun cycles, sometimes grouped together in rerun cycles, and almost always skipped when the fresh "in sequence" episodes before and after the episodes on this list finally air/aired on BUZZR.

- Daily SP & CC added at 12:30 PM & 2:30 PM, respectively. Doesn't change the fact that even the CC episodes airing at 2:30pm are still not fresh (1987 and 1988 from what I can see). The actual fresh CC episodes won't return till possibly mid January if at all, because BUZZR is gonna be busy airing a lot of Xmas specials these next few weeks at the very least.
