With regular airings on BUZZR starting soon, it seems like the right time for this show to have its own thread.
I'll start with some comments on which celebrities got to play Match Game during the week, as it was limited every day to only 5 of the 8 celebrities.
Doing the math, there are 25 spot to fill each week; 5 shows * 6 spots = 30, minus the 5 spots that Jon Bauman gets.
So how to allocate the 25 spots among 8 people? The most obvious solution is 7 people get to play 3 times (21), and the 8th gets to play four. And with folks moving in and out during the week, it will be interesting to who occupies which spots.
Looking forward to watching and seeing the comments!

Looking forward to watching and seeing the comments! I don't know if I ever saw seven celebs play MG three times in a week, though that makes sense. Usually, four celebs would play three times, with one of two scenarios happening: Either two of the remaining celebs would play four times and the seventh would play twice or two celebs would play twice, one would play four, and one would play all five. I'm not sure when this pattern I'm about to describe became the norm, but they usually repeated Monday's HS grid seating on Friday and Tuesday's on Thursday, with occasional minor seat swaps.

I believe I've at least heard the intro to the first week, and honestly, I've hardly heard of most of the celebrities that played!

Some of them were then-stars of NBC soap operas, and others were known for short-lived primetime shows of the era. Nothing NBC debuted in the 1983-84 season made it into 1984-85, daytime or primetime.

The HS portion of this show was a mess, but I'm looking forward to this because of Gene and a lot of the other celebrities. We probably won't get that far for a while, but Arlene Francis' last ever television appearance was on this show.

Arlene's last TV appearance was on the Maury Povich show in October 1991, as per IMDB. MGHS was her last game show appearance, however.

The reason MGHS didn't do so well was primarily because it was up against General Hospital on ABC and Guiding Light on CBS at 3:00 p.m.

General Hospital's peak in popularity was the early 80s(Luke and Laura getting married in 1981 helped)

Seeing Bonnie Urseth play makes me wish GSN would have shown her appearances on The New $25,000 Pyramid from 1983 and 1984. They've shown her Go appearance. She also played on The $20,000 Pyramid in Christmas of 1978, winning $1,700.

Vahan, don't forget, GSN also aired Bonnie Urseth's Tattletales appearances, bet you didn't know.

I also wish there's an accurate episode guide for Tattletales for the rest of May 1983-May 1984 period including the first week with the new "Places Please" intro. Can't wait to see David Ruprecht's pre-Sweep days when he appeared on the MG/HS Hour but we'll see how long this lease last before they cycle back.

The THursday episode of the second week is already on Youtube(mislabeled episode six, but the NBC end of show voiceover with sitcoms and Hill Street Blues airing "tonight" IDs it as the Thursday episode). Yes, all but one fee plugs from both fee plug segments were cut out of yesterday's airing, as was the ticket plug coming out of the last commercial break.
Dave Zinkin said on ATGS said he remembers a time where MG had a 6-6 tie after two questions and they had members of the audience who were cheerleaders come on stage to do some of their cheerleading moves, rather than play a normal tiebreaker question or extend the Squares portion of the show to kill the extra time.

Other than being Janet's husband Philip on Three's Company, what was he famous for at that time to be on the show? That would be cool to see.

He played Thurston Howell's son in a Gilligan's Island TV movie in 1981, and was a correspondent in the 1983-84 season of Real People, its final season. I suspect David would have been billed on MGHS as being from the latter.

First time I've ever seen a tie and strikeout in Super Match.
