I hope you enjoy this week of MGHS. This may be the only time we will ever hear Scrabble mentioned on Buzzr, unless they make a deal with Hasbro.

There's at least one other (video set for the start of the puzzle where it happens): A similar puzzle showed up in 1987. I believe the celebrity solved the puzzle after the fifth password, and one of the contestants coming into the commercial break said she had been a contestant on Scrabble previously.

I believe the celebrity solved the puzzle after the fifth password, and one of the contestants coming into the commercial break said she had been a contestant on Scrabble previously. In addition, the 8:30PM episode of Super Password played earlier on BUZZR today (not from the latest new batch of episodes) had Chuck Woolery as the password, with one of the clues being Scrabble. Don't forget about the May 29, 1985 episode where the Game Show Sweepstakes puzzle is revealed, and Scrabble was mentioned on Buzzr there. That part stayed intact but the GSN airings of that episode had that part edited out.

Interesting. This particular week marked Heidi Bohay's first ever appearance on a game show and Arlene Francis' last appearance on one ever.

While we're on subject from last week, the July 2, 1984 episode featured future LC announcer John Cervenka winning the Match Game portion and won $800 in the Hollywood Squares portion and won $500 in the Super Match part and played for $15,000. He's the defending champ in tonight's rerun.

He's the defending champ in tonight's rerun. Correction: John won $300 in HS and $1,000 in the Super Match. I distinctly remember him playing for $30,000 with Jon Bauman when the episode first aired in 1984.
For the record, Jon Bauman's answer to "Blank Fitzgerald" was "F. Scott." I would have lost, too, as my answer would have been "Ella."

Johnny Olson filling in again.
UPDATE: It appears Gene Wood is back. Though 178 was skipped, very likely Johnny was there for that, too.

It's July 3. June 29 and July 2 were skipped. Well, this week only had 3 episodes we last checked and the June 29 episode is in the trading circuit. I am trying to piece together what this comment means.
First of all, I have independently confirmed for my own benefit that only three episodes of MGHSH aired the week of July 2, 1984. Episodes aired on Monday, July 2, Tuesday July 3, and Thursday July 5 (Episodes 174, 175, & 176; 174 was skipped by BUZZR). It was pre-empted on Wednesday July 4 and Friday July 6.
The confirmation is in the TV Week section of the July 1, 1984 edition of the Record-Journal. This link is to an article on Page 32, and Daytime TV Listings on Page 33 confirm these dates.
And while not clearly stated here, there are other websites with episode guides for MGHSH indicating that the of July 2, 1984 week with Lydia Cornell taped only three episodes.

Though I don't have definite proof of this, I believe episodes 177-181 were taped on June 20th and 21st. On #180, Mindy Cohn said that two of her best friends graduated from Beverly Hills High "yesterday," and a newspaper search reveals that the school's ceremony was on the 20th.

With BUZZR's schedule published out to 10/26/2021, a day on which we will see the last episode of MGHSH (ep. 191), it's time to look back and inventory BUZZR's MGHSH skips: 1 youtu.be/3gZrCHHijEs68 70 86 100 109 129 146 173 youtu.be/W5biQCkEAUc174 178 That's 11 skips out of 191, which means that BUZZR aired 94% of the episodes. Also of note; Episodes 2-5Fresh on BUZZR, on Sunday February 17, 2019, well before regular airings began with episode 6 on September 30, 2019. To date, these have only been repeated once (AFAIK), from 11/25/2019 to 11/27/2019, and 12/2/2019. Episode 104Aired only once (AFAIK), on June 10, 2020. and out of sequence (after 75 the previous day and before 6 the next day). This episode has been skipped every other time, and is the only MGHSH aired on BUZZR that never aired in sequence.

On #180, Mindy Cohn said that two of her best friends graduated from Beverly Hills High "yesterday," and a newspaper search reveals that the school's ceremony was on the 20th. I have to take this back. Gene said that episode 185 was taped on Father's Day. A web search shows that it fell on June 17th, so there's no way the previous week could have been taped on the 20th and 21st.
The article I found originally ran on Thursday, June 14th, and it said "About 600 students will graduate from the high school at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday." It's possible they could have meant the previous day, but it's odd that they'd put it in the future tense.
Well, at least we now know that week 38 was taped on Father's Day weekend.
