Is it know why for whatever reason Viacom has kept Remote Control locked away in their archives basically since it went off 30 years ago, and never put it on any of their digital sub channels, or licensed out to GSN or another service? I am going to assume that this show is probably crippled by licensing issues related to the music, particularly in the bonus round at the end with the music videos and thus will probably never be seen again, but VH1 Classic probably should have been able to air it back when that was a thing and it never showed up there either. Is it safe to assume that the Youtube archives that are available are all we’re ever going to see of this show ever again?

As long as the V of Doom is in control, yes.

As long as the V of Doom is in control, yes. I know the talk right now is that CBS All Access is going to be retooled into Viacom’s answer to HBO Max or the NBC Streaming service that’s coming, so maybe there’s some glimmer of hope out there for the MTV and Nickelodeon archives that have been locked away.

The last time it aired on television was in 2009. MTV showed two episodes as a tribute to Ken Ober.
VH1 Classic is now MTV Classic and it's largely devoted to music videos and music programming. The issue of the bonus round shouldn't matter if it's going to air on that channel.

The syndicated run of Remote Control had a bonus round not relating to music videos; the questions were usually movies or TV related in their bonus round, and no music videos were played on that version IIRC.
