pyramidfan ivoryface86 Are you there? I've got a question: It seems I've gotten into a bit of an editing war on the episode guide for the show, which is on the Goodson-Todman Fandom. This user wrote about how the week with Kim Fields & Todd Bridges (July 29-August 2, 1985) was preempted on Thursday for the Daytime Emmys. But I have the GSN PDF for June 9, 2008 (I'll post a picture of that below), and it says five shows were taped. My question is, was the August 1, 1985 episode taped but never shown originally due to the Daytime Emmys, or did it air in some parts of the country but not others? I find it very hard to believe that it would be unaired originally.

In most of the country, the Daytime Emmys began at 7pm or 8pm so the August 1, 1985 episode was not pre-empted. Also, originally, somebody put the JM J. Bullock/Lynn Swann abbreviated week as September 2-4, 1985 but many sources say it's September 3-5, 1985. For the Jenilee Harrison/Marty Cohen week, sources say it was September 3-5, 1984 but many others say it was September 5-7, 1984.

Vahan, you should also point out in the episode guide that Bob Hilton announced the July 22-26, 1985 week of episodes and he also announced the October 14-18 week of episodes with Tom mentioning that Johnny Olson would try to get well and return as soon as he could. Well, Bob Hilton did 4 consecutive weeks of filling in for Johnny including the Halloween episode with the special effects opening. December 2, 1985 saw the backwall going all blue as they knew the ratings for the show had already been dropped in an instant when they introduced the $500 bonus in Round 2.

I remember the Daytime Emmys in 1985 airing on CBS from 3-5PM, albeit on KDKA CBS2 Pittsburgh I was seeing it from and not WCAU Philly(CBS then, NBC now). It aired on CBS that year and Press Your Luck gave away a couple of trips to NYC including tickets to the Daytime EMmys with Peter T. as a presenter.

Wow, the Daytime Emmys included Johnny and Penny Olson, Meg Ryan, Bill Beyers, Michael Damian, Frank Runyeon and Melody Thomas(not yet Scott).

I have five episodes from that week in my collection, so five were definitely taped.
It's possible that an episode was preempted that week in some markets because of the Emmys. Here, for example, it aired at 4:00 pm on one station and at 9:30 am (on a one-day delay) on another.
I do remember the Emmys being on in the late afternoon and them showing the Patty Duke THINGS ON A MARQUEE win for the "Pyramid" clip -- which was odd because that had happened over two years earlier.

Well, let me ask you Brendan: The Jenilee Harrison/Marty Cohen week, do you think that week aired on September 3-5 or September 5-7, 1984? The JM J Bullock/Lynn Swann week(episodes #303-305), do you think that week aired on September 2-4 or September 3-5, 1985?
From what I pictured from the former, the last 2 episodes of that week were won by Marty Cohen.

Now how did we miss something about the Friday preemption when it comes to the Jenilee Harrison/Marty Cohen week, I bet Brendan, you might remember, but do you know which celebrity won the first episode of that shortened week? And for the JM J Bullock/Lynn Swann shortened week, which celebrity won the 2nd and/or 3rd episodes of that shortened week?

We just found out: Lynn Swann won the 2nd episode of the shortened week and JM J Bullock won the 3rd and last episode of the shortened week. And for both New Year's weeks, the January 2-4, 1985 week saw Constance Towers from Capitol swept the week, 3-0 and for the 3-episode series finale week(December 30, 1985; January 2-3, 1986), Ted Lange from Love Boat swept the week 3-0. In the Sweepstakes end game, Lynn Swann won $900 for Amy. Assuming no one won the $500 bonus in Round 2.

Jason Cranmer(aka ttdkitrules), according to Ryan Rinkerman, in the Teen Summertime part of the run, August 2, 1985: Jeff vs. Shannon August 9, 1985: Erika vs. Linda(the episode where Erika has one loss against her) September 4, 1985(#304): Becky vs. Amy September 9, 1985(#306, Johnny Olson returns): Kevin vs. Amy September 11, 1985(#308): Clark vs. Sha September 12, 1985(#309): Sha vs. Clark August 12, 1985(#311, Teen Summertime): Linda vs. Erika August 13, 1985(#312, Teen Summertime): Erika vs. Jane August 20, 1985(#317, Teen Summertime): Lisa M. vs Lisa L. August 22, 1985(#319, Teen Summertime): Lisa vs. Trevor
Remember Tammy Warner who used to run the Those Groovy Game Shows site? She had the entire Karen Kelly/Anson Williams week and the first 3 episodes of the Dawn Parrish/Robert Donner week in her collection, well, all of them that she had have fee plugs shown in the credit crunch and no end credits, these were recorded in the days when Millionaire and Love Connection were on the GSN lineup.

Something we don't have in the vaults is the December 7, 1984 episode where Robert Donner finally makes it to the Sweepstakes end game after Dawn Parrish having the chance to sweep the week. For the January 7-11, 1985 week, Shelley Smith won every episode except the Thursday one(Orson Bean won the Thursday episode of that week).

Some more episode guide fillings for you Ryan Gagne: November 27, 1985: Frank vs. Olga(last episode with the multicolored circles on the set) December 2, 1985: Olga vs. Frank(the first episode where the backwall is all-blue, the episode where both players have 1 loss against them). December 3, 1985: Frank vs. Shannda December 4, 1985: Shannda vs. Joel December 5, 1985: Joel vs. Shannda(the episode where Shannda has 1 loss against her) December 6, 1985: Shannda vs. Joel again but both players have 1 loss against them. As we looked through the whole week, Marty Cohen swept this whole week. I have a feeling that the week with Isabel Sanford and Malcolm Jamal Warner marked the final time with the 2 lady contestants compete against each other with Malcolm partnered with Connie (the player from the November 22 episode) and Malcolm winning the first 2 episodes of the week.

Ivory, if you're wondering if I taped any episodes from GSN, I didn't.
