I thought this forum, where I'm still a newbie, would have more discussion on the topic than it has. Disappointing. I think it was - again - people decided to turn this from a discussion thread like it was supposed to be, with opinions, to a "list celebrities as contestants" kind of thing. Which it wasn't. Thank you for chiming in. It sucks that people are ignoring true thought-provoking discussions like this.

I'll respond to "Rtist 4merly known as Chachi" without quoting the whole post.
I think that the prime time celebrity Jeopardy tournament was better than the when celebrities played on the regular shows. On the regular shows, the regular contestants understandably take the game very seriously, while the celebs would joke around at the expense of game play, which resulted in most celebrity game boards not being fully played. The hour long prime time format gave the celebrities opportunities to relax and entertain while playing and still complete every game board. IMO, the best of both worlds.
I think that Family Feud and The Weakest Link both have formats that are organically well suited to have special celebrity episodes.

I'd agree, Feud and Link do work well for celeb editions. Not all celeb Feud weeks were great, but they were fun to watch during the 70s and 80s. What little I've seen of any of the current prime time Celeb Feud hasn't excited me. Seeing friends and family of an MTV reality show "star" playing Feud: Just not as intriguing to me as it would be to see cast members of past sitcoms doing battle.

Lynn Deerfield appeared on Match Game in 1969 as a contestant and on Match Game '77 as a panelist. McLean Stevenson was on Password in the mid-60s as a contestant and on P+ and Super Password as a celebrity.
