Hi
My name is Russ Scottfield. I am in search of traders who are recording the Pluto TV episodes of The Price is Right. I am looking for a whole bunch of traders who are recording the show off of Pluto as I have no means to do so myself and I plan on getting every episode being aired in Pluto.
If you are recording these episodes and would like to trade with me, please email me at classictvandclassicgameshowfan@gmail.com and we can go from there. I have lots to trade, both Classic TV and Game Shows. I can also do digital trading through Google Drive and Dropbox also.
I am attaching my collection lists on here also.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely, Russ Scottfield

My question is, how do you record stuff off of PlutoTV anyways? It's just a question, somebody might know more about that than I do.

I have a DVD recorder with an analog input from my Cable box. I have used it to make DVD's from my DVR and once for a movie from the Netflix app (Fantasia was leaving Netflix, and Disney+ hadn't been announced yet). I have also used it to record movies from OnDemand.
Theoretically, I could do the same from any app on my X1 cable box. I have seen PlutoTV as an option, but have never watched it.
PM me if you want to discuss, maybe we can work something out.

I recorded one episode yesterday, and that was the November 3, 1982 broadcast which had the "Secretaries vs. Big John" showcase with "Nine to Five" by Dolly Parton as background music. This was the only episode I got to see twice on the Pluto channel so far (though I never saw the playing of 3 Strikes in my initial viewing). I'd be happy to send you that episode digitally, Russ, but no need to send anything in return at this time. Incidentally, this episode originally aired just one day shy of the date in which current model Rachel Reynolds was born.
However, I wonder if that particular showcase inspired the nickname of the PC game developer, BigJon.
I plan on recording more vintage TPIR episodes over the course of time.

By the way, the lineup on the November 3, 1982 episode I successfully recorded yesterday are as follows:
1. Danger Price 2. Hole in One 3. 1 Right Price 4. Clock Game 5. 3 Strikes 6. Secret X
I am, however, quite interested in recording episodes that have the long-retired games Hurdles and It's Optional, as well as episodes from as early as May 1983, since the new music package was launched around that time, and I really like that 1983 music package a lot.

My question is, how do you record stuff off of PlutoTV anyways? It's just a question, somebody might know more about that than I do. I know that a program called WM Recorder can allow the user to record episodes from online streaming. I purchased such program yesterday, and it's a very inexpensive one-time cost, as far as I know. No monthly or yearly fees. I highly recommend it.
The episode I recorded yesterday is pretty clear and crisp quality. However, I had to edit out the periods where commercials would normally occur in Windows Movie Maker. Some such periods had solid blackness with the Plinko chip watermark on it instead of commercials. After editing out the commercial breaks, you have 42 minutes of actual showtime. But didn't I read on another site that someone commented that the total running time for the show minus commercials during Bob's latter years was about 50 minutes? If so, did the show lose viewers by that point that CBS shortened commercial breaks? Of course, on modern-day TPIR, the total running time for an average episode minus commercials is about 38 minutes, which was likely due to a surge in ratings by the spring of 2009.

As of yesterday, I was having occasional problems with recording TPIR from the Pluto stream. I was quite bummed when I tried to record two episodes among that have Hurdles being played, and the recording ended up becoming faulty on both counts. However, I did successfully record an episode this morning - and I woke up just after 6 a.m. to do it - I wanted it because it had a playing of It's Optional (it was the third last playing). But subsequently, after several faulty recordings, I decided to give up on recording classic TPIR and focus on other things, including the modern-day TPIR. I did, however, manage to record, at this point: November 3, 1982 February 1, 1983 February 2, 1983 February 16, 1983 February 23, 1983 March 8, 1983
I will gladly offer them to anyone who wants them, but maybe this could be the start of my TPIR digital episode trading, and if this happens, I may be able to build a collection. But I only wish to receive episodes within the realm of 1982 to 1989. I may make allowances for 1990, when Pluto gets around to that.
And as for my future of recording from the Pluto stream, the writing's on the wall - at least, for the time being.

Good news. I have seven more episodes recorded in the last week. They are the following: - October 12, 1983: Range Game/The Phone Home Game/Squeeze Play/Danger Price/Any Number/Cliff Hangers (first few seconds of intro didn't record)
- November 9, 1983: Hi Lo/Clock Game/Plinko/1 Right Price/New Card Game/Walk of Fame
- December 16, 1983: 1 Right Price/Deluxe Dice Game/Grocery Game/Most Expensive/Money Game/Cliff Hangers (with the Home Viewer Showcase winner announced)
- December 20, 1983: Super Ball!!/New Card Game/1 Right Price/Range Game/Hi Lo/Money Game
- January 26, 1984: Most Expensive/The Phone Home Game/Poker Game/Safe Crackers/Money Game/Cliff Hangers (The audience sings Happy Birthday to Bob) - I downloaded a poor quality episode from YouTube some months ago, but thank goodness I have a much better quality copy now.
- January 31, 1984: Give or Keep/3 Strikes (+)/Race Game/Double Prices/Any Number/Check-Out
- February 2, 1984: Five Price Tags/Take Two/1 Right Price/Ten Chances/Blank Check/Grand Game
My aim is to record episodes with at least one retired pricing game being played. It turns out that some episodes I recorded had all six pricing games played that are still actively played in today's Drew era.
I did learn on G-R a while ago that Pluto plans on airing every airable episode covering a quarter of a century from Seasons 11 through 35. When they get around to the the 1988-89 era, I may may expand my focus to include episodes with Spelling Bee played. But as for the 1990s, I may not consider them because of occasional "shopping along (insert street name)" showcases which feature models looking like mannequins in the windows. This is why I had no interest in watching this year's April Fool's episode.

I have created a site on Google Sites which lists every game show episode in my digital game show collection. Not everything is listed right now, but it's a work in progress. The list will be updated on occasion, so keep checking the site for new additions. Here is the link to my new site: sites.google.com/view/jonsea31gameshows/home

Apparently, my Google site is no longer active. But it's probably for the better. You see, I have been actively recording the Pluto TV airings for a few months now. This morning, I recorded the showcase round and the showcase reveal from the May 9, 1984 episode - an episode I recorded a few weeks ago. When I originally recorded the episode, the Showcase segment cut off while Bob was in the midst of talking just before the commercial break; and the final segment had a segment black out midway through the results, and then the segment restarted, but when Bob would normally give his closing words, it jumped to a point midway through the closing credits. I was hoping to get a complete copy of those segments this morning, but sadly the same problems were prevalent this morning. Other episodes have these similar segment problems - where the screen blacks out a few seconds into a segment, then restarts from the beginning, later jumping ahead to another part of the segment.
That being said, I think it is pretty clear that it may have been a problem by the powers that be either at Fremantle or Pluto TV. One of my guesses is that there may have been a tape glitch that required the segment to be restarted from the beginning in order to fill the time, and then skip over the tape glitch to the unaffected part of the segment. Tape glitches are bound to happen - especially when these are tapes that are nearly 40 years old, and some of the tapes (particularly from May 1984 which were never rebroadcast since the original CBS airings until PLuto TV aired them). Or it could have been a different kind of problem - we may never know.
I did read somewhere that an episode from early June 1984 (June 4, I am thinking) had a lot of audio problems. The episode will be reran at around 3 a.m. ET tonight, so we will know by morning whether the audio problems will have been resolved or not.
Regarding this thread's purpose, I will say this much - because there are no guarantees of recording full episodes with segments aired in full, I decided to not go ahead with my trading business regarding Pluto TV airings. I had a list of episodes I recorded which was posted on Google Docs (which was not made public), but after learning of the same issue with regards to the final segment on the May 9, 1984 episode on both this morning's airing and the previous airing, I have since deleted my list from Google Docs.
Regarding the latest batch of fresh episodes, more will be coming in the morning. This time around, we will get to see the Season 12 finale, the Season 13 premiere, the debut of On the Nose, and these fresh episodes will finish up at October 2, 1984. I bet that the next batch of fresh episodes in a few months' time will likely include the debut of One Away - since that debuted in December 1984, and Pluto TV does tend to add 100 new episodes in any given period, but does not air all 100 fresh episodes at once - yet.
