That's excellent. Thank you, Steve. More of these $ale Box Scores will be available at our website, NBC.com/sale. We'll get to Marc and Vahan's reactions and strategies in a moment, but first, our first musical performance of the evening. He's a Grammy-winning artist and one of the judges of American Idol on another network. I'm still waiting for Simon Cowell to come back. Here he is with his top 10 hit from his multi-platinum and Grammy Award-winning 1983 album, Can't Slow Down, Lionel Richie and "Running with the Night"! (audience cheers) [ "Running with the Night"Written by Lionel Richie and Cynthia Weil Performed by Lionel Richie Guitar Solo by Steve Luthaker] Lionel: The heart of the city street was beating Lights from the neons Turned the dark to day We were too hot to think of sleeping We had to get out Before the magic got away
We were running with the night Playing in the shadows Just you and I Till the morning light (Backing: we were running) oh, oh (Backing: Running with the night)
Lionel: You were looking so good girl Heads were turning You and me on the town Ooh, we let it all hang out The fire was in us, we were running We were gonna go all the way And we never had a doubt
We were running with the night Playing in the shadows Just you and I Till the morning light (Backing: we were running) oh, oh (Backing: Running with the night)
(instrumental middle eight)
Lionel: We were so in love you and me On the boulevard wild and free Giving all we got, we laid it down Taking every shot, we took the town
We were running with the night Playing in the shadows Just you and I Girl, it was so right
(Backing: We were running, running with the night)
Lionel: Girl, it was so right.
(Steve plays his guitar solo, fade out)
(audience cheers) Greg: Lionel Richie and Toto, everyone! (audience cheers as Lionel takes a bow) OK, now, before I have my performance and we have our delicious Biergarten buffet, let's talk with the players. Marc, as Steve mentioned, you seem to specialize in Fame Games and the Century Round. I noticed you didn't even have your hands near the buzzer for some questions. Would you please explain some of your strategy to us?

Those questions I didn’t buzz in on were ones I didn’t know or didn’t want to risk losing money on. That Brain Drain was one of them, and I think that one question was the difference in that first game. We’ll see how Game 2 goes.

Oh yes, the Fauci question. Alright. We shall see how Game #2 goes.
Vahan, we know you're excited about your victory. You seemed to do well in the main game and the Brain Drain, but faltered in the Fame Games and Century Round. Would you please explain some of your strategy to us?

I'm not sure if I'm doing the Fame Game round right. I buzzed in, asked for clues, and buzzcode.

(Well, the way it works is, you ask for a number of clues and the low bid gets it. If you bid four clues and your opponent bids three or less, the opponent gets it.)

As for the Century Round, it's hard for me to say how I faltered. Am I losing my edge? Doesn't seem like I'm out of it yet.

Well, we shall see. Now, I better get ready. Burton, would you please introduce us? (I rush off to my position) Burton: (VO) Sure, Greg. Ladies and gentlemen, this next song was the third Top 40 hit from the self-titled debut album for Mike + The Mechanics. It peaked at #7 on the Adult Contemporary chart, becoming their second Top 10 hit there. With Greg Palmer on lead vocals, here are Mike + The Mechanics with "Taken In"! Vahan: [DEDICATED TO THE BETRAYED] Marc:
[ "Taken In"Written by Mike Rutherford & Christopher Neil Performed by Mike + The Mechanics Lead Vocal by Greg Palmer] Greg: Taken in, taken in again Wrapped around the finger Of some fair-weather friend Caught up in the promises Left out in the end
No pride, taken for a ride You say I'm the only one When I look in your eyes I want to believe you But you know how to lie
And if you say you understand I don't believe it And when you reach out for my hand I don't believe it And if you say you take the blame I don't believe it And if you say that nothing's changed I don't believe it, don't believe it
(We see various shots of the band, including Mike Rutherford, thoughout the instrumental breaks)
Taken in, taken in again Someone saw me coming A fool without a friend There's one born every minute And you're looking at him
And if you say you want me near I don't believe it And when you're holding back the tears I don't believe it And when you swear that you are mine I don't believe it And it's your heart that's on the line I don't believe it, don't believe it
Taken in, taken in again Wrapped around the finger Of some fair-weather friend Caught up in the promises Left out in the end
No pride, taken for a ride You say I'm the only one When I look in your eyes I'd love to believe you But you know how to lie
You say you want me near I don't believe it And when you're holding back the tears I don't believe it Oh, there's one born every minute You're looking at him
Taken in, taken in again Someone saw me coming A fool without a friend I want to believe you, oh
When you say you understand When you reach out for my hand Oh, I wish I could believe you Taken in, taken in again
(fade out)
(audience cheers, Greg and the band bows) Greg: Thank you very much, Burton. Now, we're going to be having Biergarten brought in. Now, where is it? (Suddenly, a group of German and Polish Disney employees walk in with buffet trays, food, and drinks.) Good. Well, while we take a break to eat, go get something in your fridge and enjoy it. We'll take a meal break and we'll be back with Game #2! Who wants some schnitzel? (the audience gets up from their chairs and partakes) Burton: (VO) This has been the Disney+ Halftime Show. We'll return with Game 2 of $uper $ale after these messages and a word from your local NBC station.(fade to commercial)
