Memorial Day was once called Decoration DayAlice Coopers real name is Vincent Furnier THE REST OF THE STORY: spirea FYI:
In 1868 when it was proclaimed as a holiday by General John Alexander Logan, Memorial Day was originally known as Decoration Day. (We had a white spirea which would bloom at this time, my mom called it the decoration day bush).
President Lyndon Baines Johnson signed the legislation in 1967 officially renaming it as Memorial Day.
Just adding some fun trivia.
