I just watched two 1984 episodes on archive.org, and I have some questions:
How many weeks did Rod Roddy fill in? Looks like he did three (August 27-31, 1984, October 22-26, 1984, and October 07-11, 1985).
When did they change the direction of the 7-11 and Mystery 7 reveals? Both started out with close-ups and no bells. The Bells were added by July 30, and somewhere from September 03 to October 15, they stopped doing the close-ups.

Not sure when the bells started, but I can tell you that the first week without the closeups was October 1, 1984.
Speaking of 1984 weeks, the episodes that aired the week of January 9, 1984, most likely taped on December 11, 1983.

And come to think of it, tapings in 1984 may very well have started with the Betty White & Earl Holliman week, the debut of the 21-21 car bonus. And as I said in another thread, these two weeks in 1984 were taped on the following dates: January 22 was Martha Smith & Nathan Cook, January 23 was Markie Post & Richard Kline (3rd time).

Brendan, I think the bells in the 7-11 and Mystery 7 reveals may've began as early as July 9. The week with Meg Bennett & Michael J. Fox had the bells began at that point, I also think that week was rerun at the beginning stages of Lucky Day USA w/John Davidson.

Fox or Bonnie Urseth and Billy Crystal. Bonnie and Michael were opponents on "Go!", but they never played "Pyramid" against each other.

And I think Lucky Day USA began in September 1991, during the second season of Davidson Pyramid. USA wasn't showing any '84 episodes that year.

Found out from a reliable source that the VTR date for the Lois Nettleton/LeVar Burton week of the $25K was February 7, 1986.

Brendan, all the 1978 taping dates for Cullen Pyramid have been identified. Here they are:
April 18, 1978 May 09, 1978 May 26, 1978 June 09, 1978 June 26, 1978
If there's anything I've learned from this, it definitely pays to keep checking eBay.

I just added these dates to my database for the series. Thanks!
I also notice that some tape dates got added for two sessions of the 1977 season. Where did that info come from?
Along those lines, I know we determined that the first session of that season was the one that featured Garry Moore, but do we know for sure that the one taped on May 23rd was the John Ritter session?

You're welcome. I added those two, after reading them in the post you made on April 20. If they're wrong, I'll change them accordingly.

You're welcome. I added those two, after reading them in the post you made on April 20. If they're wrong, I'll change them accordingly. I had forgotten that I wrote about the 5/23/77 ticket. You know more about my posts than I do! I'm wondering, though, how it was determined that the John Ritter session was the one that taped that day.
If I had to guess, actually, I'd say that the Ritter session was taped later in the season. My New York "Pyramid" experts are certain that Lois Nettleton -- who was also in that group of six episodes -- made her first "Pyramid" appearance on the $20K, not the $25K, and her first time on the daytime show aired the week of July 4, 1977.
Definitely keep checking those eBay auctions!

You also said that the 1977 season is the only one in which information is missing for some episodes.

Found a newspaper article in the archives that said that the first soap opera week of "The $25,000 Pyramid," which aired the week of May 25, 1987, would be taped on May 8th.

Excellent. To paraphrase Hannibal from The A-Team, "I love it when an episode guide comes together".

Another find: a newspaper item that says that Smokey Robinson will be taping his "$25,000 Pyramid" episodes "this week," and it's dated May 4th. Since the soap week taped on the 8th, Smokey's week must have taped the day before, on the 7th.
