Well, I kinda figured Match Game would be the last 20+ year old show on the schedule. I didn't see it happening this soon, but I don't get GSN anyway so no biggie. Maybe there will at least be some fresh episodes?
This does add to me wishing we could get GameTV in the US. Hopefully Buzzr or another diginet picks up classic Pyramid sometime.

I'm disappointed but at the same time I don't have GSN, so I'd be missing out on classic Pyramid anyway. You'd think with the success of the new version, they'd try and keep either it or $100,000 on. Maybe this is temporary, who knows. It might not be that deep. But Pyramid is one of the strongest classics they have and it'd make sense to have at least one slot on there a day.
Even if I did still have it, Match Game wouldn't be really much of a consolation considering the fact that it airs a ridiculous amount on Buzzr, and on that network the episodes aren't messed with. That is unless it's something outside of Buzzr's current airing windows.

GSN currently airs #921-#1215 (with the usual skips), and #131-#246. These encompass 1977/1978 and 1974
Buzzr also airs from time to time #131-#223 (74) and #1141-#1215 (78) which also air on GSN. Of course they also air 73, 74 (before #131), 75, 76, and 78 (#1216-#1300) which don't air on GSN.

I can drop GSN from my Dish package and save $6/month. 25K was the only show I was recording.

Well, I think it's safe to say that, effective immediately, GSN has lost me as a viewer. I am very grateful that GameTV in Canada is cutting the slack and is declared to be my new source for classics.
It would have been nice for GSN to air those final three months of Press Your Luck, but worst case scenario, I am sure they, and maybe the remainder of 1988 and 1989 episodes of Eubanks' Card Sharks may end up airing on GameTV in Canada some years down the road.
If Match Game is the last remaining oldie on GSN, it makes me wonder if this is a sign that GSN will be flipping the switch to entirely 21st century material by April 2020 (exactly ten years after the limited runs of certain shows took effect)?
EDIT: Just checked out celebs for Match Game for the first days of October, and it turns out the episodes are from the same lease we've been seeing for nearly two years. It could be possible that fresh content may still come, but later than we expected. Keep in mind that sometimes, negotiations for fresh content may continue beyond the date we expect, and a deal may not be reached until a few weeks later. if this is the case, consider the quartet of Match Game airings and the extra hour of Deal or No Deal as just a placeholder for the time being.

I could see that happening. For the longest time, Cartoon Network hung on to Tom and Jerry when there was nothing else on that was "classic". Classics on CN are nowhere to be found.

I could see that happening. For the longest time, Cartoon Network hung on to Tom and Jerry when there was nothing else on that was "classic". Classics on CN are nowhere to be found. Now that you mentioned it, another possibility is that GSN may now be heading into a phase-out period for 20th century material. That may explain the lack of fresh episodes of Match Game and the removal of Card Sharks and The $25,000 Pyramid on October 1. It may only be a matter of time when 20th century material may become obsolete on GSN's schedule.
I would give up my cable package that has GSN, but I am afraid that the same package may also have GameTV on it. If GameTV is on a separate package, I may consider giving up the package that has GSN. But the way things may be headed, GSN may be on the brink of losing me as a viewer. Plus, it may save me an extra ten bucks or so per month (not including taxes).
Worst case scenario, the classics were fun while they lasted, and I hope GSN made their mark to remember. At least I have GameTV to enjoy these oldies now.

At this point, why even bother to complain about $25K Pyramid leaving? GSN screws it up with the forced borders and "film look" Some people out there wonder what you mean by "film look". I've read, well a certain person out there go crazy about it. I looked it up, thinking about it though I think I knew what you meant. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film_look I don't necessarily think it's GSN's fault. These shows aren't in HD. I think that's the problem and why we see this "film look" on these shows. It happens on other channels too.

The image is broken, phimat37 Basically, it's what the commercially-released DVD set of Password from BCI suffered from. I'm convinced GSN is doing this for no reason, because some of the episodes are left alone, and I've also noticed the last segment on some $25K Pyramid episodes having smoothness and fluidness. I do not think it's to make the episodes HD-friendly like one person on Facebook says, because the ones that are in HD and have smoothness and fluidness look perfectly fine. I think it IS GSN's fault, because we used to not constantly see this "film look", like they've been doing since the beginning of this year. Just last year, the $25K Pyramid they were showing had smoothness and fluidness. Now all of a sudden, many of them have this "film look". This person on Facebook says no one cares, as do a couple others. I care about this very much. I am a videophile, after all.

I do have one question: Do Buzzr's airings of classics have the so-called "film look"?

But my question is, do Buzzr's airings of classics have the so-called "film look"? With few exceptions ( Wordplay pilot and Dream Maker), the answer is no.

Celebrity Name Game on Buzzr has the "film look" too. I'm not that much of a videophile, but it's a big enough difference to be a bit distracting for me.

I wonder if the software they're using to run and convert the shows to newer broadcasting methods might be doing this. This was never a thing before because they were using videotapes originally and converted the shows to basically another form of broadcasting tape (digibeta). I don't have cable anymore and this kind of stuff is the reason why. There's legit no need to watch GSN. Match Game '7x, Card Sharks, and Feud (both old and new) all come on free on Buzzr or local stations-- whichever channel applies. Also I don't understand this thing with GSN burning off new episodes of original shows in the middle of the night.
They've also got other shows that aren't classics yet but could gladly fit in. Russian Roulette. Hollywood Showdown. Weakest Link. Bergeron Squares. None of those can get any airtime either?

I just noticed a new logo on GSN’s YouTube channel, changing their channel name officially back to Game Show Network. Is Game Show Network trying to repeat 1997 all over again?
