Of note, Hellevator appears to be done for - gone from the schedule completely. What do you expect from a horror game show? Horror is a niche genre, much like game shows are, horror attracts a cult following. Game shows are niche in the sense that a lot of people aren't game show "fanatics" maybe they just watch Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, whatever is on the local TV stations and that's it. Just saying. AMC has had success with The Walking Dead, that's a different story though. Horror and game shows, both of which are a niche genre, don't mix. I think GSN was trying to bring some of that AMC success to GSN, maybe it just doesn't work without zombies, which I don't understand the fascination with zombies.

Speaking of marathons, I just saw an ad for a Steve Harvey Feud marathon on Christmas day. So, business as usual, then. /Sorry, I was on the previous page of this thread when I made this post. Didn't realize there was another page of posts and discussion of the Harvey marathon. But my joke still stands.

phimat37 and tpirrules1972: Your reactions are amazing because they are sooo true. GSN's special marathons (or lack of) this year are so not special between Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years.

Card Sharks with Jim Perry was playing on my TV this morning, and no Christmas decorations were prevalent. That said, I think the current batch of episodes acquired in November is, yet again, another 50-episode lease, maybe 60 at most. I have a feeling there'll be a reverting back to August 1979 sometime in February.

Is GSN showing reruns of The Chase triple times on their schedule now? Because when I was channel surfing today I noticed that GSN is showing reruns of The Chase on Tuesdays at 5PM PT Fridays at 7PM PT and Saturdays at 11AM PT and I want to know why this is? Is the second The Chase repeat on Fridays a placeholder till GSN puts another show in The Chase's Friday timeslot? And also another thing about this surprise is that the repeats of The Chase are different shows from the last season. Is GSN gonna move The Chase back to Fridays and remove the Saturday repeats of The Chase once Season 5 debuts soon? Kelsey

Just noticed on the PDF for the last full week of January: Card Sharks with Jim Perry reverts back to #286 (last day of May 1979) on January 26. Looks like GSN leased episodes from May 31, 1979 to sometime in October 1979. Well, there's not much more of 1979 left to air for Perry's Card Shatks, and Match Game may be early-80s after this current lease. Looks like 70s material is headed off into the sunset, and mornings wIll eventually be devoted to 80s material . Enjoy the 70s material on GSN while you can.

I believe the last edition of the program in the lease was for the 19th day of October in the year 1979 since the PDF had "10/19/1979".

^ If my math is correct, and assuming that two episodes were skipped between May 31, 1979 and October 19, 1979, it looks like GSN may have leased a total of 100 episodes of Jim Perry's Card Sharks since July.
Roughly 2 1/2 months of material from the 1970s remaining to be aired on GSN, since Match Game may likely be early-80s after the current lease.

That doesn't surprise me one bit. And now that I think about it, I realized that the lease of September 1983 to February 1984 of Press Your Luck may have been a two-year lease that supposedly expired in October 2014. Had GSN not picked up the current batch of November 1985 to May 1986 episodes in September 2014, Press Your Luck probably would have been off the GSN schedule by October 2014.
GSN's lease of Sale of the Century was apparently a two-year lease too, and that expired a year ago. Two-year leases for Fremantle classics seems to be commonplace, if there are at least 100 episodes. Either way, I think we are due for something different sooner or later.
I also noticed that Match Game '79 is still airing. I don't know what episode number is the CBS finale.

You do realize that no outsider knows anything about GSN's leases, and I doubt that most employees of the network know much if anything about them. It's all just wild blue speculation. Anyway, a little speculation of my own: the oldies eps have to be dirt cheap because no other outside network wants them. GSN could probably pick up all the oldies they want for a song. The only reason GSN doesn't run more of them is because they get ancient demos and not very big overall audiences.

The only reason GSN doesn't run more of them is because they get ancient demos and not very big overall audiences. Then why not remove what little's left altogether? I'm not going to say "woe is me" and try to make up some oddball idea about how GSN will suddenly remove their pre-2000s programming. Hopefully - and this is a big word - if GSN ever does said removal... They'll put an original from the mid-2000s up. (Wet dream, I know. Shut up and let me have that dream.)
