Wondering if GSN is going to skip Ed Toutant's return when he comes back because of an error and ends up winning $1,860,000. That would be due to air Monday I believe according to the Millionaire episode guide. From what I've been told from The Game Show Channel and by my Xfinity Guide, they will be skipping that episode, but an original broadcast of that airing is on Chuck Donegan Dailymotion Account here: That's kind of what I was thinking.

Kinda surprised they are re-airing the Comedy episodes of Millionaire despite what happened to Kathy Griffin during the 2016 & 2020 Presidential Elections.

I find that, during the final months of Regis' Millionaire, there seems to have been an increase in celebrity episodes and theme episodes. Was this due to the contestant pool having very few contestants left, and fewer new contestants being interested in playing by as early as the last quarter of 2001?

I don't think it had anything to do with a decrease in applicants. I messaged Ian Wallis, and he said that thousands of people a year apply to be contestants on game shows. There is never a shortage each year.

The bottom line is ABC overexposed the show. They thought the show was more popular than it actually was. NBC did that with Deal or No Deal.
Millionaire was what really got me into game shows almost 20 years ago watching reruns on GSN at my grandmother's house one time. I did like the daytime version of Millionaire with Meredith alright until they started screwing with the format in the late 2000s. I didn't necessarily have a problem with the timer, but at some point they did away with the timer and screwed with the money tree and did away with the hot seat. When they went through a few hosts after Meredith that show was pretty much doomed I could see. It's amazing it was on the air as long as it was.

I remember reading on Wikipedia some years ago that the NBC show Weakest Link suffered low ratings due to the aftermath of 9/11 being on the minds of American viewers. If this is true, maybe the hype for million dollar game shows had declined around the same time for the same reason (Super Millionaire in 2004 likely didn't do that well, but then again it may have been a stopgap measure during the February and May sweeps), and didn't rebound until Deal or No Deal launched four years later.
There were other million dollar game shows that didn't do greatly. Twenty-One on NBC, and Winning Lines on CBS - the latter of which ran for just nine episodes (ten were produced, but one remains unaired). Millionaire was the ratings winner.

I don't necessarily buy that 9/11 had anything to do with that, I mean if that's the case then I'm sure a lot of other shows would have suffered, and maybe they did. I don't think that would've just been an issue for million dollar game shows though.
Millionaire was overexposed and they tried to do celebrity editions to try to entice people to tune in. I'm not sure if Weakest Link was a victim of overexposure but they sure did a ton of celebrity editions of that near the end if I recall.
I'm not really into the conspiracy theory business though.

A lot of game shows historically go for a lot of celebrity all-star weeks when it looks like the end is near. Family Feud, both Dawson and Combs versions, did this. Password on ABC went to an all-celebrity format in 1975. I don't necessarily buy that 9/11 had anything to do with that, I mean if that's the case then I'm sure a lot of other shows would have suffered, and maybe they did. On June 10th, Beat the Bridge will premiere at 6PM. Besides that, are there any schedule changes?

Looks like there will be 7 months left of Millionaire. Also, next week, are there any schedule changes besides Beat the Bridge?
