I agree that there may have been just 220 episodes, as I recall watching the original run in 1986 on WABC when it went into reruns in March or April through the rest of the run in early September. I am finally getting around to watching the last batch of syndicated SOTC leading up to ep. 220, the presumed finale.
I just watched 213, and the third instant bargain was a "Garage Sale", with three prizes not previously won grouped together in a package. When the player in the lead did not buy at $15, Jim Perry opened up the package to all three contestants, dropping the price by a dollar at a time, until another contestant bought the package at $10.
I feel like this a strong clue in support of 220 as the finale, as I recall that SOTC had similar "Garage Sale" bargains at the end of the NBC run. Also, allowing the other contestant to buy the package seems to indicate the producers were very eager to get rid of the items.

What was the lowest and highest priced merchandise prize won on the Fame Game board? I seem to recall there was on that was $300. The highest IIRC was $2,100+.
