Then why hasn't GSN picked up the rights to Name That Tune? It's been known in the fandom that music rights are the problem, to specify that: because it's so music intense. Compare NTT to a game show that isn't and just throws in the usage of a song every once in a while like Sale of the Century apparently did. If it's anything like how other classic TV shows are done on DVD, they'd have to pay the publishers to the songs a lot of money. And more music being used on a consistent basis means more $$$ the production company has to shell out in royalties.

I heard some interesting moments on the edition of "Sale of the Century" the Game Show Network broadcast today:
Jim Perry rejected the answer "Sanford" one of the contestants said in response to a question about the name of the comedian who played the owner of the junk yard in the TV program "Sanford & Son" (Redd Foxx), even though Sanford was the original surname of the comedian (his original forename was John).
Later he accepted "Roosevelt" one of the contestants said in response to a question about the name of the former president of the United States depicted on dimes (Franklin Roosevelt), even though there were two presidents with the surname Roosevelt (the other president was Theodore Roosevelt).

By the time he appeared on television for the last time, his hairline receded, and nobody expected that at all.
This is because the target audience of the very last show he was on were much younger than he was.

Jim Perry.
His hairline receded when he was on Studs.

I noticed that, on the episodes from Al McDonald's run that used to exist on YouTube (they're not there anymore, but the user most likely removed them on his own terms as a precautionary measure), when there were two prizes remaining (the car and the $3,000), there were only two numbers to choose from.
I wonder if the trend of two numbers remaining was only for the champion's second last playing of the Winner's Board where the contestant would not have to match prizes - as regardless if matching was a requirement, or picking one number out of the two remaining, either way would allow a 50/50 chance of something?
Were there occurrences where there were two prizes left on the board (no car nor $10,000) and the contestant was still required to make a match? If so, doesn't that seem a bit redundant, seeing that either that or picking from two numbers guaranteeing a prize with just one pick, would equally allow for a 50/50 chance?
If this situation where two prizes would remain on the board and only two numbers to choose from was in place, it may have been in place by September or October 1986 or something, if it wasn't in place when the Winner's Board was in place by late 1984.
We may have a better idea what happens with the last two prizes on the Winner's Board if GSN picks up episodes from the final season of syndie $ale someday. I do admit, I really am enjoying the syndicated run of $ale so far, even if not as extensive as Press Your Luck or Eubanks' Card Sharks (the latter of which doesn't currently air).

The frame rate for the edition of "Sale of the Century" broadcast today was lower than the normal frame rate for TV program recorded on videotape (29.97 frames per second). There was also a problem with the audio for the final shopping segment (the audio rate was lower).

I noticed on today's airing of $ale, one of the blonde models was acknowledged by the name Gina (or Tina, maybe)? So we may know one of the unknown models' first names, but the last name remains unknown to this day.
I wonder if that model was only prevalent during the syndicated run and not on NBC?

Guys, I'm not trolling but I do have a question regarding the syndicated run of "$ale". When did that air on the USA Network, because I know that there was a "Lucky Day USA" block. I know it had to be sometime in 1992, but I'm not sure what month it was.

I don't have exact dates, but I do believe the syndie $ale aired on USA sometime in or shortly after April of 1993. I remember this because I have the original USA airing of the syndie debut on the same VHS tape following my live recording of a WWF pay-per-view event (WrestleMania IX) that was done on April 4th of that year, so it wouldn't have been too much longer after that date.

Well, "Lucky Day" was still airing back then, but I'm not sure when that ended.

Actually got to watch $ale of the Century this morning. Did anyone notice the Fame Game Board looked much different than usual?

If this refers to what I think it refers to, then I believe what you saw was one of the earlier syndie episodes. The Fame Game numerals were a bit simpler there, thinner and less colorful. I don't know why they did that, especially since the daytime show didn't adopt this set change (at least as far as I remember) at the time.

Actually the color scheme and number font change started on yesterday's GSN airing. The font of the digits appears reminiscent to the font used in the flashing "$25,000" sign above the Winner's Circle pyramid in The $25,000 Pyramid, only the font on the Fame Game board appears thinner. I think the name of the font is SueVemeer, or along the lines.
