The main issue with GSN's take on the Mob was that all of them were prerecorded, meaning that the producers could stack the questions however they wanted. This. Plus I really liked how the live mob interacted with the host and the contestants on stage. The banter with everyone was one of my favorite parts of the show. The live mob added so much more tension and excitement to the game and came off a lot fresher for me.

I actually didn't realize the GSN Mob was mostly pre-taped. Then again, I think I only ever managed to catch a few minutes of about two episodes of the GSN version. This was from a period where I wasn't watching GSN much if at all, because other things were more important at the time. I actually thought most of them were "live" via a webcam or other remote connection elsewhere. But if they were pre-taped... yeah, that's another strike against it. Not only did you take away the impressive visual effect of an in-studio Mob, you also no longer have live interaction between Player and Mob. It's as bad as when Scattergories used pre-taped celebrity segments, though in fairness it would've been difficult to play that format as a Match Game-style show with a live panel. (Which of course should have been Grundy's first clue that this format just wasn't gonna work at all, but c'est la vie.)

EDIT: The set was fine for what it was. Pre-taped Mob members were just... No. Question about the Mob: How many questions were there in a game? What would have happened if - hypothetically - the last member of the Mob and the contestant were at a standstill? EDIT #2: thekid965 - you get a like just for the last three words of your post.

I don't think the video-screen, partially pre-taped mob had much to do with the GSN show's quick demise. The absence of Bob Saget hurt a lot more. Carrie Ann Inaba may be a nice dancer, but she wasn't much of a game show host. The money was also a lot skimpier, which (we might as well admit) affects some viewers.

The pre-taped and prescreened mob killed the show as far as I was concerned. Especially when it was brought up that the producers wouldn't pick anybody who didn't miss any questions.

I think it was elements of pretty much everything mentioned here, tbh. Carrie Ann's hosting was a disappointment; which I find unfortunate because I do love her on Dancing with the Stars. On there she has the perfect amount of energy and interacts well with everyone and doesn't miss a beat. That wasn't prevalent here.
