Would that 24 hour weather channel be WeatherNation? No. It was our CBS affiliate's local weather station - just for the state of CT. Our local cbs affiliate had a 24 hour weather station too (produced by them). Dropped it for Antenna TV a couple of years ago.

My NBC affiliate had weather, dropped it for Bounce, then later added The Justice Network.

For the sake of those on the board without Fox O&O I hope you are correct. In fact, even for those of us who do I hope you are correct. If the channel is deemed unsuccessful they could always change the format of it. This said, I think this channel in its starting form has a tough road ahead. You mention AntennaTV but it shows primatily well loved and remembered sitcoms people have seen on various other channels for years. Old game shows don't have that same appeal to that large of an audience. Well, let's not forget that classic game shows on TV and game shows in general (albeit in various degrees in terms of volume, of course) have been apart of television schedules on cable for over two decades, counting GSN plus USA and the old CBN before it became ABC Family. The same applies with classic TV, I think. Cable used to have classic shows aplenty and it wasn't just the same select number of shows like it is now before things started dwindling down in favor of scheduling programming based on young skewing demos. You have Antenna TV, MeTV, Retro, etc. not just airing major old hits but they're also getting rights to classic shows that haven't been seen on TV regularly in the US in 10 and in some cases 20 years or more and those shows are doing just fine. I feel like the more popular classic shows (like MASH on MeTV; the Norman Lear shows on Antenna TV) get the attention they deserve, but also the more rare shows that haven't gotten as much rerun exposure for whatever reason still get the attention they deserve too. And this includes variety with programming in on-air promotion as well, something that GSN lacks. Basically, balance is the key when you look at their schedules and digital subchannels aren't as demo obsessed as cable is. Also for the record I don't think Buzzr's gonna be 24/7 classics, but it looks like we'll be seeing a lot more of those than GSN's been offering, even before the dramatic cuts in the morning. And running more won't be at such a supposed negative risk for them like GSN.

I just hope this doesn't make the trading circle die. It's pretty much dead as it is.

I just hope this doesn't make the trading circle die. It's pretty much dead as it is. A lot of markets aren't getting this channel (yet). The shows will still be a hot commodity. ... Will there be episodes that haven't been shown on GSN for various reasons (clearance issues)?

I just hope this doesn't make the trading circle die. It's pretty much dead as it is. YouTube had far more to do with "killing" the trading circuit than any traditional, linear television channel.

I just hope this doesn't make the trading circle die. It's pretty much dead as it is. If anything, this should give it a boost. GSN isn't airing these shows anymore for the most part, and a lot of people aren't gonna have the channel yet in the first few months at least when it's first launching.

I found this little blurb while looking at Marshall Akers' "To Tell the Truth on the Web" site.
I'm wondering if Akers actually has inside information here, or if it's just speculation on his part. Very good news if true.

Very good news if true. It's probably hype and a prediction. That's been there for months. I wouldn't count on whoever's running this page to know anymore than we do.

With just two weeks before their projected launch, we're finally seeing some more evidence that Buzzr is actually happening. A new promo video is up with clips from Tattletales, Match Game 7x, Dawson Feud, Monty's Let's Make a Deal, Perry's Card Sharks, Super Password, and Press Your Luck. The latter show is notable since it hadn't been mentioned in previous Buzzr press materials. It's a fun promo that turns various bells and buzzers (plus some host patter) into a catchy little jingle. Also, their Facebook page has a composite of game show stills as a cover image - one of those is of ABC Password, curiously enough. I highly doubt that they found any more episodes of that, though perhaps some of the few existing ones will get some one-off airings.

Gonna be hella salty if I'm missing out on Garry Moore's To Tell the Truth. Already envious on missing out on Tattletales as it is!! We're probably not gonna get the network for another year or so (if we get it at all in my area) considering how slow network pick-ups tend to realistically be.

I'm holding out hope for it...we got both classic TV networks picked up here in Antenna TV and MeTV...hopefully someone wants to pull Buzzr into the foray.

Somebody mentioned to me, (actually he's a member of this message board that doesn't post on a regular basis.) But he mentioned about having live call in shows with games and prizes like GSN Live.
I doubt it though. I was arguing that Buzzr is still new and it has to build before that could happen. Lots of markets won't get the channel right away, some big markets will. I don't think it'll catch on at first, it'll take some time. Like any business, it's a work in progress to build a network, and like lots of businesses, you start from "scratch".
I was saying that the network can't live solely on old game shows from the 50's to the 80's, for example. He argued that that's more of a reason to have interactive call in shows. Well, not really. Sure, their slogan is "Let's Play" but that's only a slogan, it's not a "lifestyle". The YouTube Buzzr channel is a "cult following" on the internet, which is a small demo. I'm sure it'll attract some viewers but it needs time to generate revenue.
I'm sure they're not thinking of live call in shows right away. If they do consider it, they would probably have to start doing them when the network can build some. We all know GSN will still get the ratings, Buzzr won't be replacing GSN. Maybe as far as airing more older shows goes perhaps, but I think GSN has more to worry about than competition. They aren't really worried, I don't believe so anyway.
Interesting ideas though as far as live call in shows go, GSN doesn't do them anymore, maybe Buzzr will someday adopt the concept. What do you think?
