The rumor has been around forever, but GSN finally put out the press release. I've got a post about it coming on Game Show Follies. Long story short, YEEHAW! It's always been a favorite format of mine. Now if they can just fix the end game. Oh, I obviously agree about Dylan Lane not returning. Though he was hardly as terrible as game show Interweb reputation suggests. I'm tempted to see the timing as a response to the Buzzr announcement. "Hey, we do original game shows, not just dusty retreads." But it's probably pure coincidence. Also, the format is particularly resistant to GSN's barbaric rerun abuse. One other thought: this may reflect internal dissatisfaction at GSN over the recently announced development slate. Haven't heard a peep about any of those shows seeing the light of cable.

One other thought: this may reflect internal dissatisfaction at GSN over the recently announced development slate. Haven't heard a peep about any of those shows seeing the light of cable. A lot of projects, including App Wars with Danica McKellar, might have failed or fallen through the cracks. I have not heard anything at all about App Wars since the November 18, 2014 press release on additional shows for GSN. I have not heard anything about progress on Steampunk'd, Hellevator, How-To Games, Bingo Bash, Winsanity and Face 2 Face. Many other titles from the 2014-15 upfronts have not seen light-of-day either. And for Dylan Lane, no way he'll be back although I never thought he was a horrible host. It's just the fact that no one knows where Lane is anyway nowadays.

I anticipate these new editions of "Chain Reaction" since I enjoyed its previous editions and format.
I hope the host for the new editions is will be more professional than the one for the previous editions (even though he knew the game and knew how to be professional, he acted unprofessional sometimes).

I liked the original format to, but it's really time for new episodes. The older episodes have gotten tiring for me, anyways, but they do get good numbers, last I checked. GSN canned Chain Reaction about the time David Goldhill took office in 2007, if I recall. Along with Lingo, and maybe others, but I don't remember 2007 too much. It's pretty much a blur to me now.
I've always enjoyed Chain Reaction, especially the original set and original host, but things change. Dylan Lane seemed to enjoy himself on the original version, at the time he was a young host, but he was good and seemed to enjoy himself.
This isn't such a big deal, but I hope they don't do "Battle of the Sexes" again for Chain Reaction. It was OK, but I could take it or leave it.
I imagine that they will change the endgame and change the dollar amounts for each round. I don't know.

I liked the format of the 2006-07 revival, but Lane was so-so and the Battle of the Sexes got old after a while. The bonus game was also wonky...first it was too hard, then it became a bit too easy.

The bonus game was also wonky...first it was too hard, then it became a bit too easy. and it shouldn't of been that hard to begin with, if the contestants practiced. I'd like to see a bonus round ala the edwards version

Thank you for reminding me about the program having had its teams organized by gender and paired against their opposite genders. I hope the new editions don't have teams and pairings based on gender.

make the set more vibrant too. The set looked like the top prize was in the 7 digit range.

I'm hearing word that there are already three changes coming to the Chain Reaction revival:
1) Teams of two 2) "Men versus Women" teams eliminated (instead teams will be more like Idiotest ones) 3) Show filmed in L.A. (Lane's version was filmed in New York)

I hope the new editions don't have teams and pairings based on gender. Some shows are fine if it's male versus female. Are there any shows that you think are acceptable with males versus females?

I didn't have a problem with Battle of the Sexes, myself, it just wasn't my favorite. I don't know of too many shows that use the male vs. females concept. Maybe for "theme" shows, such as Lingo, a little "battle of the sexes competition" type theme shows as they like to promote those male vs. female theme shows.
As I said, to me, it wasn't a big deal. It's just a format they chose, and it was OK for Chain Reaction the way they promoted it that way.

Personally I didn't think it was necessary and it didn't really add anything worthwhile to the show.

This is a pleasant surprise. I'm hoping this reboot is just as good as the Lane version. Never liked that guy. He seemed like a douche.
