Even the part where you took a comment of I dunno, a lot of the promos appear to focus on political questions and the inevitable bickering and belittling that comes with it. I get enough of that crapshow in my daily life. I think I'll be staying far away from this show. To mean "I'm not gonna watch this new game show on the sole grounds that I'm a traditionalist."? Calling out a game show (one that, I should note, tries to force drama in its endgame by design) for invoking politics to create drama, and calling out its network for using such invoking to plug said show, shouldn't get replies of "Well, you're only saying that because you're a traditionalist." Failing basic reading comprehension and purposefully twisting others' comments out of context to further an agenda is the definition of a troll. It's why I took Mandoli's advice and put the troll on ignore.

Neither the faults of older game shows or the positives of newer ones are, or should be, ignored.
You're beating down an open door with me. Now tell this to the folks at Game Show Forum or Golden Road or the game show board at Sitcoms Online, among other sites. They make a habit of ignoring the faults of older shows and the positives of newer ones. In fact, the average age of GSF's recent list of fifty top game shows was nearly a half-century, and there was exactly one (1) show on the list that originated in the last ten years. (Hint: it featured Mark Labbett.) That's what I was talking about when I pointed out the traditionalist tendencies of the game show Interwebs. If some posters take this as personal criticism, I can't help it. The blunt fact is that I don't expect such Internet sites to appreciate Divided. But apparently enough of GSN's audience can stomach the show, if the early numbers are any indication. We'll see what happens over the next several weeks. By the way, I made my own list of the fifty top game shows. Although I wasn't particularly aiming for chronological balance, the list came out that way. There were at least five shows that originated in each of the seven decades from the 1950s through the 2010s. The decade with the most shows was...the 1950s. So much for the criticism that I don't appreciate older shows. I like good game shows from every era. As for my being a troll, apparently some people can't stand the slightest disagreement with their posts. That's okay with me. But I never put anybody on ignore. I don't mind disagreement, even when it's harsh. Check the comments on my blog if you don't believe me.

It's why I took Mandoli's advice and put the troll on ignore. ... And this is where the conversation's going to end. To all of you: Quit the crap, or this thread's getting locked until people make up. I'm not going to sit here and go through a bunch of reported posts when I have a headache and something planned for tonight.

More news on Divided, from the blog... The latest viewer numbers and 18-49 ratings for GSN's originals… 9:00 PM Divided 377K 0.06 9:30 PM Divided 393K 0.07 10:00 PM Idiotest 372K 0.09 10:30 PM Idiotest 410K 0.09 Divided may be teetering right on the edge for renewal. The viewer numbers are okay but the demos are dipping. It seems silly that a show's fate could hang on hundredths of an 18-49 ratings point. But that's TV, folks. A little more beyond what's on the blog: Divided is sure doing better than Winsanity or Hellevator or Window Whatnot, to mention GSN's other recent originals. The total viewer numbers aren't wow level but probably okay. Idiotest has earned several renewals with similar viewer numbers. The decline in the 18-49 demo is ominous, though. It's clear that Divided is skewing older than Idiotest, and that could be the kiss of Nielsen death. I like Divided myself, but it's a serious quizzer that mostly lacks the humor of Idiotest. Or the humor is of the grim kind, when sour contestants burn through all their money. So I get the feeling that Divided is poised on the bubble. Idiotest, on the other hand, looks like it could get still another season. It's a good show, maybe taken too lightly by me (among others). I'm not a big fan of Ben Gleib's often sarcastic hosting style, but he's kept Idiotest going for four seasons now. A lot longer than most of GSN's other originals, anyway.

Well, GSN seems to really like how this is doing...

Just gonna say this right now. I think I'm starting to see the problems this show has. I still have a problem with the drama. However, it's the gameplay that's starting to bug me. Everyone's TOO loud/vocal for my liking. Also, sometimes they answer the questions way too fast. You'll be trying to figure out the answer(s) to a question and then it would be like "That's it? That was too fast." Sometimes it's too hard to keep up with what everyone's saying. That's not enjoyable to watch, at least to me anyway.

From that Craigslist page: "Unless you're over 40, because eww old people!" "Because shut up. Also: pretty people only." ===== Looking at the contestant application (linked on the Craigslist ad), all applicants are required to, among other things: * Disclose whether they've ever been naked in public or on video (thankfully just a yes-no prompt, so it's not as skeevy as it could've been) * Describe how competitive they are * Describe their political viewpoints/leanings * Answer several questions which seem to be designed so the producers can set up conflicts between players I get the feeling that answering "N/A" to any of those last three sections (which the application says you can do for any question that doesn't apply to you) causes your application to be binned, since they want opinionated people.

If I had found myself on this show, I'd bring a pair of dice with me and insist that we use dice rolls to quickly determine who gets what with little time and money wasted with bickering. I'm sure though the other idiots wouldn't go for that either.

Wrote a blog entry on the apparent renewal. Bottom line: anything on GSN that can get get close to or above a 0.10 18-49 rating is a real good candidate for renewal on the ancient-skewing network. Divided has done that number repeatedly.

Here's one of two for-air pilots, which uses the three-player setup throughout.
Gotta love the fact Mike Richards tries to say this is a "special" episode, almost as if they're proud of having shoehorned the fourth player and elimination element into their version.

It seemed like they had to fill that time with more chit chat Bullshit. I like the regular format better

Season 2 just aired today and it looks like this season will be more politically-driven than season 1. The end of that second episode, holy crap. I really don't like what I just watched from that episode.

Season 2 just aired today and it looks like this season will be more politically-driven than season 1. Given the subjects the (since-deactivated) contestant application asked for you to share your opinions on, I'm not surprised. (I don't remember everything, but there was definitely one about gun control and I'm pretty sure another was about same-sex marriage.) The end of that second episode, holy crap. I really don't like what I just watched from that episode. Against my better judgment...what happened?
