Hans is indeed an entirely unofficial nickname for the Cliffhangers character, first coined by Doug Davidson when he hosted his short lived Price is Right syndicated show in 1994. It was a reference to his Young and the Restless co-star Eric Braeden, whose birth name is Hans Gudegast.

I don't know when I started to use Hans as a name for the character.
I just kind of used it and ran with it. But yeah... Until someone says "this character's name is Hans", it doesn't have a name.

Trivia note: On the Australian versions, the mountain climber did have a name... Cliff Hanger!
And yes, it's been purely a fandom thing to call him "Hans" ever since the '94 syndie. Since he's never had any other official name (before or since), that one sort of stuck. Of course, if Drew has his way, his name would be "the Yodely Guy!" (In recent years I've sort of split the difference and declared his full legal name, at least as far as my recaps go, to be "Hans Yodelman.")

The end of one big-money stunt... with a second to come starting Monday. And three weeks into the season, here's where we stand. (All mathematical glitches have been repaired and addressed.)

Kid...a question as it pertains to today's show.
I'm noting that today's winner finished one lousy buck ahead of Denise from Bob's last show. But it wouldn't have happened if the game she played wasn't inflated. How would you handle something like this?

Now that's what I call a day! In response to Steve's question: I don't handle it any particular way at all. Inflated top prize or not, it was still a legitimate win on a legitimate episode of the canonical daytime series, and thus ranked accordingly. As it should be.

How true it is.
Mom's boyfriend wants to plan a trip for next summer out to California and the Pacific Northwest, and obviously can't because of the shutdown.

I'd plan it anyway. If there's still a shutdown by the time next summer rolls around... well, let's just say that a closed national park will be among the very least of our worries.

Even if the sites he uses are the sites of the national parks themselves?

Fair enough, that is more of a concern.

I Laughed when i saw Stack the Deck knowing how much you hate that game. Id assume if this wasnt a special week that this episode would have been delayed due to the Park trip. WayoshiM from Golden-road,.net says That Cliffhanges gameplay will be altered for its big money play this week and that a different user says that there at least 1 more big win to come Heres a spoiler about the gmaes for the rest of the week Per Buzzerblog
Lucky players get to compete in $500,000 Plinko; $250,000 Cliffhangers
If that wasn’t enough, one lucky contestant will get the chance to play Golden Road for a new Bentley and another will play Triple Play for a chance to win a new Audi, Range Rover and Corvette.
