My pick for overrated is Family Feud. I'm surprised it's as big as it is. To me it went to hell after Dawson and Combs. I'm just so sick of it being everywhere. I wish something else would run on GSN in place of Harvey feud.
Underrated- Super Password. Awesome theme, great host, classic gameplay based off P+. How did this not last longer? I'd be all for an SP revival. So what are yall's thoughts on the topic?

Overrated: Family Feud. Specifically, Steve Harvey's version. Underrated: Do I even need to say it? Just look at my name and avatar.

Friendly reminder about these terms per the dictionary.
Overrated: (of something) considered to be better than it really is Underrated: having more importance, value, skill, power, etc., than people recognize

Overrated: I'm not sure you could consider it a "classic" since it only debuted in 2005, but I'm gonna go with Cash Cab. People absolutely gush over this show but I've never understood the appeal.
Underrated: I'm gonna go with Blockbusters. The show was a big hit in the U.K. but had two somewhat unsuccessful runs in the U.S., 18 months for the Cullen version and 17 weeks for the Rafferty version. I thought it was a good show with a good play along factor, and the Gold Run is one of my all-time favorite bonus rounds, even if it was a bit on the easy side.

Overrated: "The Price is Right." A lot of hate by some people towards contestants who are claimed to be acting like jerks, getting overly excited about pricing game wins, even if the prize won was furniture. But the gameplay and the cast members (especially Rachel) make the show a very entertaining hour.
Underrated: "Card Sharks" with Bill Rafferty. It didn't get the respect it deserved, and by 1987, affiliates either dropped the show, or moved it to the late night "death slots" anywhere between 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. But the format is pretty solid, the show had strong potential, and it may have been slightly better than the Bob Eubanks version to a lot of people. Despite the much shorter run, I like this version a very close second in rank to the Eubanks version. Rafferty's run may have performed better in ratings on GSN than in the original syndication run.

If this were me, I'd just say "Barker era on" as overrated. Cullen's version was great, and really shouldn't be lumped with what's on today. I'm also going to edit the title of this thread and move it, because classics + modern...

For overrated, I'd agree with Cash Cab. It's not a terrible show by means but, it's also not the most exciting. I too don't understand why it's popular but oh well. I'll add What's My Line? to the list. Again, not a terrible show, but I really don't understand the popularity. Probably has to do with the fact of how young I am.
For underrated, there are two that come to mind. One of them is Double Dare with Alex Trebek. I thought this was actually a darn good show, with a great format. I thought this show got screwed by CBS, and should've lasted way longer. At least it's gotten some good rerun time.
Another greatly underrated show was the 1976 edition Break the Bank. Apparently this was the #2 rated daytime game show back in 1976 (behind Match Game 76 and ahead of The $20,000 Pyramid) and was a victim of expanding Soap Operas. Sure it was a Hollywood Squares ripoff, but it was still a good show. This show had potential to be greatly remembered, and now it's not.

I can think of a few more, one being a former nickelodeon show.
Overrated: Wheel of Fortune (Current) and Jeopardy (Current). How these shows are still on is beyond me. They both bore me beyond belief. Screw the current ones. I prefer classic wheel and jep.
Underrated: Get the Picture (Nickelodeon)- I'm not sure why this didn't last a lot longer. Mike O'Malley did a great job as host and gameplay was great.

Overrated- Wheel of Fortune(after December 1996) & The Price is Right(after February 1993): I think many of these modern episodes(of both shows) are too hard to watch for me though.
Underrated- Starcade: it was one of the greatest 80s game shows & it has pretty good gameplay. but it also have not been seen in reruns on TV much since G4TV's early years. I think GSN should be acquiring it.

Overrated: Okay, I fell in love with Harvey Feud when it first aired but fuck it now. I don't want it on six hours a day.
Also, Millionaire after Meredith Vieira (I can't spell her name, sorry)left. I'm trying to enjoy it again but can't do it because the host keeps changing.
Underrated: Personally, I think the '90s era Supermarket Sweep was underrated. 500 Questions was also underrated, and so was Greed.

Overrated: Family Feud. Never really been a big fan, but after the hilarity of Harvey wore off, it got grating for me.
Underrated: Big Showdown, a solid, inventive quizzer with a catchy theme and big payoffs. Sadly, it got taken down by soap operas, and ABC's tape-erasure policies ensured that outside of the pilot, only the blooper episode survived. (I did managed to bring it back, in a fashion-- in a thread on AlternateHistory.com, I brought it back on a far-more successful Fox Family (which didn't cancel its' game shows when it relaunched in 1998) with Bill Rafferty as host as FF's response to Millionaire and the like (as opposed to Paranoia, though Peter Tomarken still hosted for FF, albeit with a revival of Catch Phrase, patterned after the Roy Walker run).

Overrated: Pyramid. Every single version of it. Pyramid is basically the Lightning Round from Password but instead of being limited to one word you're allowed to use as many words as you wish. The theme song, specifically the most famous version made by Bob Cobert, is the most annoying and awful theme song ever made. In my eyes the only reason why people cared about Pyramid was because of the amount of money it was giving away. In fact, and this is probably an even hotter take, Bob Stewart as an independent producer is massively overrated. 95% of his game shows were basically the same as Password (Word Games with celebrity-civilian teams) and 3% of the remaining 5% were games that had contestants competing for a whole week answering riddles. The Production on his game shows was crap throughout the 70s and even into the 80s although not as much then, he overrelyed on 70s Bob Cobert themes, and his various attempts at reviving old game shows under new names was laughable at best.
Underrated: Debt was a pretty interesting game that got screwed over due to it being on the wrong channel and having a format similar to Jeopardy at first which caused a lawsuit.

Overrated: Wheel of Fortune’s current format, since the 2003-04 season where the Prize Puzzle usually guarantees who the winner of the maingame is
Underrated: Scrabble, particularly the 1986-90 format with the bonus sprint jackpot. Clever concept of puns to solve words in the crossword rounds
