^ they're showing 576. The schedule on 2/26 lists 570 at 6pm and 576 at 6:30. Sorry - misread the schedule. And I forgot that they already played that week, so yeah, they're only skipping 580.
I quickly scanned the episode of Password Plus - "oriental" is a clue for "acupuncture"... that's the only thing that stood out.

Then I would say it's a safe bet that's why they skipped it.

But I'm pretty sure the one time they might get away with it nowadays is when an Oriental rug is offered as a prize.

How in the world is oriental offensive? c'mon, don't play dumb. "Dumb" is literally Vanna's entire schtick. That and stomping his feet over short leases.

"Dumb" is literally Vanna's entire schtick. That and stomping his feet over short leases.Gregory Pearsoll was the one who made me believe that 1984 $25,000 Pyramid and the final three months of Press Your Luck are all damaged beyond repair, in case you didn't know. And I've apologized and moved on from this "short leases" fiasco.

And I honestly didn't know about "oriental" being so offensive. I've heard about "midget" being offensive, but never "oriental".

Nothing offensive was done to get the answer, but I'm sure it being an on the board clue (instead of a spoken one) makes it easier to just skip it. Attachments:

Personally, I never realized Oriental was offensive until it was pointed out to me. I always though of the term as descriptive, as in "related to the Orient." Asian is equally descriptive, and more importantly, not considered offensive, so I use that term now. Despite the taboo on "Oriental", "orient" is still acceptable as a verb, as is the word "orientation".
For the record, "midget" was used in episode 56 of MGHS during the MG portion.

Well, Asian is not descriptive enough. Russia is part of Asia, as is India, Pakistan, etc.

Tribute to Orson Bean coming soon. I can only hope his Body Language appearances comes up in his tribute. His episodes had Tom Kennedy sporting his white hair and the nameplates above the scoreboards were still blue and still uses the MCMLXXXIV display, when I talk about the gender balance, he was partnered with a male contestant on the Monday, Wednesday and Friday shows of his week.

I thought "oriental" is only supposed to be offensive now when referring to a person. So this looks like pure politically correct ignorance now that the episode was skipped when the word was used to refer to a thing and not a person. This is like the banning of Speedy Gonzalez by people who assumed it would be offensive to other people when it actually wasn't.

Vahan, as far as you and I know and I'm sure Ryan Rinkerman, Imad Khuri and Jamie Locklin do as well, January 21, 1985(episode #159) marked the debut of the red and green nameplates above the scoreboards, that episode had the red nameplate on Marcia Wallace and the green nameplate on Fred Travelina.
