I can't remember how I heard about it back then but I was I think 11-12 at the time. I had my own bedroom with my own TV in it AND I had cable! Yeah, I know, pretty cool childhood right? Anyways, I remember being really excited seeing GSN's promos for Greed that was going to premiere in January 2002 (reruns of the 44 episodes that Fox already aired that is). Since I had fun watching Greed on Fox in 2000, I was excited to see the show again!
But then again, I did watch other shows on Game Show Network back then besides Greed. I even recorded some shows on VHS tapes then watch them back, I recorded a couple of episodes of Russian Roulette. Unfortunately, I'm not one of those people who kept my old VHS tapes well into the 2010s to have them digitally converted. I would've loved to among those people! Anyway, I also watched Whammy! The All-New Press Your Luck as well as the original Press Your Luck in the daytime.
On weekend nights, I would eagerly watch Game Show Network anticipating that night's 10pm airing of Greed. I can't recall the shows airing before it but what I remember is seeing bumpers like this: youtu.be/yjGaWAUMMXI
As a kid, I was VERY fascinated and excited to see those kinds of bumpers on that era of Game Show Network! Especially during the primetime runs when Greed was about to air. But I am bummed that i wasn't aware back then that Greed was also airing at 1:00 am. Well, Game Show Network would air I think the same 2 or 3 hours or episodes from the 9-12am block, I think.
I'm also bummed that I didn't record any episodes of Greed and then keep the VHS tapes. Around the mid 2000s (I think in 2007) my mom tosses our old VHS tapes. That sucks! I'm even more bummed that I also wasn't aware of Greed was airing until late December 2007. But as of my time of posting this thread, I have half the series in my collection and hope to acquire the other 22 this year.
Anyhow, another bumper I like on Game Show Network is this: youtu.be/PjZErTsYY_E?list=PLMaXrzS9t2dWN6V2M0EpJRnj0Z8WOf0hk&t=8
It's that spiky ball bumper with the yellow, green, and blue background and I also love the music to that! I also love the music to that "coming up next" bumper also! Another thing i like about Game Show Network's 2002-2003 era. I know they also had a version with a fully-blue background but I like the yellow version better.
Lastly, Game Show Network turned into GSN in 2004, I think. That's when they now had a different logo and completely different format. I didn't watch GSN back then. Not because I liked the Game Show Network version better, which I do, but I just wasn't aware of the different formatting or the change.
The only thing I like about the 2004-2007 era is the "gsn" logo on the upper right hand side of the screen with the ".com" text next to it like in this video: youtu.be/oBa4zohnuF4
Man, I'd love to be able to relive the 2002-2003 days of Game Show Network. That was the best!
