Yesterday, there was a popular question on AskReddit, which I thought might be of interest to some people here, so I decided to share the link: People who have been on t.v. game shows, what are some ‘behind the scenes’ secrets that regular viewers don’t know about? There are around 4,000 comments in total, but here are a few of the highlights: - One losing contestant from The Price is Right revealed that their opponent's showcase bid was stupidly low, to the point where the audience booed it. As a result, she was allowed to change her bid to something higher. She won - and her original bid wasn't even shown on TV.
- An entire week's worth of episodes of Wheel of Fortune is filmed in one day. Therefore, contestants are required to arrive at 5am - and they're not told in advance when their episode will be filmed. (Though, on the plus side, Pat Sajak is apparently very friendly off-camera)
- Ever wondered why the audience can be so unhelpful on Who Wants to be a Millionaire? Well, about 20-30% of them are friends and family of other contestants waiting for their turn. Sometimes, these audience members will deliberately give incorrect answers - hoping to get their friend or family member into the chair.
Were there any more from the thread that stuck out to you - and do you have any of your own to add?

And apparently, kissing Richard Dawson was a condition to be on Family Feud.

And apparently, kissing Richard Dawson was a condition to be on Family Feud. I can already tell you that's not true. A lot of the other ones posted in this thread need a big [CITATION NEEDED] tag on them too, like that WWTBAM? one.

The way I'd always heard it, one of the staffers would ask all the female contestants if they were comfortable with being kissed. If you said yes, he would. If not, no big deal, and that was that.
