Shelley was arguably the single greatest female celebrity to play the 80s version of Pyramid. So incredibly sad to hear this. Just like another of my Pyramid faves, Markie Post, she died in her early 70s, too soon.

RIP. Shelley is notable in Pyramid history as the celebrity partner with Richard M who won the first tournament of the $100,000 Pyramid

And, along with Barry Jenner and Adrienne Barbeau, they all won the $100,000 for someone twice.
Shelley first appeared towards the end of The $20,000 Pyramid's run on ABC from 1979-1980, and subsequently appeared on the The $50,000 Pyramid in 1981, and both 80's Pyramid incarnations from 1983-1988 and 1985-1988 respectively.

Could this have been what led to her recent death?

Could this have been what led to her recent death? It seems like it certainly contributed. According to the article, her husband said that her breathing problems had become so bad over the last year that she was in need of a double lung transplant. However, the procedure came with significant risks and probably would have only prolonged her life by a couple of years, so she apparently just decided not to have it done. Very sad.
