The Christopher you're referring to is Christopher Ryan. He was also the one who uploaded the FOX Fun House episodes. I remember viewing his channel when it used to be active. I did discover he uploaded episodes of a certain sitcom, namely Sanford and Son, and its spinoff simply titled Sanford. He initially got his first copyright strike because of Diff'rent Strokes. I am thinking his YouTube channel shutdown was due to uploading the vast majority or the entire run of a classic sitcom.

7/24/1980 broadcast of the Dating Game(taken from a rerun from earlier in the 1979-80 season with a 1979 copyright), save for the opening titles, taped off WSNS Chicago www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3HmdApoeTM

I don't know what the survival/archival status of the 1970s $20,000 Pyramid is, Sadly not that great as far as I know. I believe I heard the magic timeframe I had heard was 1978-80. Yeah I remember when these were being passed around many years back, it's so rare to have any pre-1978 episodes so these are always a treat. Sadly the episode Sony blocked was the one that was in color!! Thanks for the article!! I miss Newsday a bunch now that I no longer live on Long Island.

Why did Sony file a complaint, when the pre-1978 episodes don't even exist anymore?

Sony took off many things that we know darn well will never be seen in reruns again. They probably know the shows won't either unless its something recent. I think they took a swipe at a Davidson episode of $100K when they don't even own the rights to that version.

The decision to block all versions of certain episodes, regardless of whether the production companies own it or not, has to do with the show's branding. Pretty cut and dry.

I linked to an episode of Doug Stookey's page a couple of months ago, but he's posted some other episodes since then.

I see Rhonda Shear's (future USA Up All Night hostess) episode is posted in full. She already posted a clip on her official channel (her other game show credits were The $1.98 Beauty Show, The Love Experts, The All New Dating Game, and Pictionary).

There's quite a few bootleg DVD sets out there of USA Network rips of episodes of Gong that as far as I know have never been put out on the trading circuit, and I'm wondering if these are said episodes.

I wonder if any of them contain the episode with Cheryl Lynn as a contestant. I'm not the biggest fan of The Gong Show, but it's one of the episodes I've been dying to see.

Thanks, I didn't know that such DVDs were out there. I checked and have collected ~60 episodes on my external drive from internet sources over the past decade. I'll probably download these all then cross check everything when I can find the time to do so.

Well this is interesting, it seems I had my dates a bit off more than I realized. The promos would indicate that this aired the week of October 17, 1977. Yet another reason why I wish Buzzr would air all the 1970's episodes, starting with July 12, 1976.
