After more than 10 years, I'm resuming my search for a lost game show called "Ten Pin Alley", which was produced in early 1986 by Tommy Oliver and hosted by Ron Ely (formerly of Face the Music). It never made it past the pilot season, and was syndicated in just a few markets (I know of Atlantic City, for sure, as well as NYC via MSG network). My Dad was a returning champion and won the grand prize, and I made an appearance with him after he won. We never saw any of the footage, and I would love to get my hands on the tapes. Someone at the Game Show Network once told me "if it made it to tape, you can find it somewhere". Years ago, I contacted Ron Ely's management firm, who said he was retired and not willing to be contacted. I also spoke with (I believe) the NBC affiliate in Atlantic City, who said I would need a court order for them to find the tapes in their storage. Any help would be appreciated more than you know. Kevin

Hello KP, I believe the game show you're talking about that involved bowling is named Kingpins and it aired on Nick At Nite in 1986 as a one time show. I don't believe Ron Ely hosted Kingpins but it was hosted by someone else. The other thing i've read about Kingpins is that it also involved teams of contestants too, Hope this info helps you out, Kelsey, P.S. Welcome to GSP by the way

Hi again KP, I tried to search for Ten Pin Alley in my game show encyclopedia but I was unable to find it and the only entry that was listed under 10 was the show 10 Seconds. I then tried looking under the word ten but no luck. Guess it was an underrated show and i'm shocked that Ten Pin Alley wasn't in my book, My advice is to contact the TV station that the show was on and see if your dad's episode is in their archives. I'm sure that they will help you wonderfully, Hope this advice helps you, Kelsey

Ten Pen Alley aired in syndication circa 1986-87. It didn't air on many stations. WMGM NBC in Atlantic City aired it Saturday afternoons circa Spring 1987. It taped in Florida, I forget where in Florida or the name of the bowling lane it taped in. John Harlan who also announced Face the Music was the announcer, and Lisa Donovan, singer from Face the Music, was a co-host.

The bowling alley is not there anymore by the way. My dad and I used to go to that bowling alley all the time. My grandmother lived in Fern Park and my dad's apartment complex was down the street from that bowling alley.

I too used to spend much time at Fair Lanes, and recently went over there and found it basically ready for the bulldozer. My dad knew the owners of the bowling alley at the time, and that is how he ended up being a contestant on the show. Over the last year, I actually had an opportunity to speak to the former cohost, Lisa Donovan, who could barely remember taping that pilot season, but did say the only person who probably has any of that footage would be Ron Ely himself. I also got through to one of Ron’s friends, who said he would pass on an email for me, but I never heard anything. My next step is probably to try to contact one of Ron’s daughters through social media, to see if they would have any interest in posting those game shows to YouTube, if he even has the footage. I got to meet Ron Ely during the taping, and he was very nice to me, I’ll never forget our little 10 minute conversation we had during one of the taping breaks. They had rented an apartment right next to the bowling alley, maybe even where you’re talking about.

My dad and I spent a lot of time there. I looked it up on Google maps and it is nothing but an abandoned building
