introduction ;
¤ Welcome to Game Show Paradise, or GSP for short. We are a group of game show fans who love to talk about anything that has to do with the world of just that... Game shows. Before you begin your magical journey, we'd like to give you the rundown of the rules that are implemented. Pay close attention to them.registering ;
¤ All members must be at least thirteen (13) years of age to join. This is not only a board rule, but this is also a Proboards-mandated rule. If you are under the minimum age, we’d like to ask you to turn away. You’re still able to join after you’re at the minimum age; for now, however, you’re not allowed. Sorry, kidlets.general rules ;
¤ Upon registering, there is a space for giving staff your reason for joining the forum. Please use this. It gives the staff the ability to figure out if you're here for legit game show talk, or if you're here to stir up trouble. If you do not use this text space, you will be denied registration. No questions asked. We would like to know why you're here - so please, let us know.
¤ All members are allowed to have one account - and one account ONLY. This includes all staff members. There is no need for a secondary account for any reason whatsoever. Instant bans will be given out to the offender(s). No second tries.
¤ All original usernames must be rated G. No drug references, references to a person's private parts, or sexual references are allowed in your usernames. Once you're registered, you may change your name to whatever you wish - as long as the above rules are not broken. Administrators and moderators will be giving out warnings to those who don't follow this rule. They will also be permitted to change the name if numerous warnings are given. Don't make the higher powers do that.
¤ If you must leave for any reason (regardless of if you plan on coming back or not), we ask that you kindly do not delete your account. If you want to come back, you're always welcome to. Anything started by a guest that is a (game show-related) game thread or an intro thread will be moved to the archive if someone deletes their account. And we'd like to keep the archive to necessary threads.
¤ PLEASE READ THE PROBOARDS TERMS OF SERVICE. We can't stress this enough.warning system ;
¤ This board is rated PG for parental guidance. This means that there will be swearing. There is no filter for dirty language - but make sure that it's not found everywhere on the board. Don't treat it like it's your second language (don't use it as every other word). Because of the abovementioned rating, the staff here asks that there is no posting of porn, sexual, or drug references anywhere. Would you like this board to permanently go? (Didn't think so.) Watch what you post around here.
¤ Always link to trustworthy sites. All major news sites and Buzzerblog are acceptable. Anything regarding free merchandise isn't, unless you're linking to game show memorabilia on eBay or another trustworthy site. Staff members are not your maids; they are not here to clean up after people. Warnings will be given out for this kind of behavior. If you don't trust it, don't post it.
¤ When posting something that happened in a game show, keep any major information under a spoiler tag within a 48 hour period. This is two days. This is also to make sure that those who DVR shows get a chance to watch what happened without reading it online. If something happens in a show and it's not spoiler-worthy (or it was released in advance, such as news stories or social media accounts), don't put it under the spoiler tags.
¤ GSP is an English-speaking board, meaning all posts are in American (or British) English. If you must post in a foreign language, please translate what you're saying. This includes all foreign game shows on YouTube. The staff team asks that you post a translation in a smaller font, or to transcribe anything that isn't posted in our mandatory language.
¤ Both general members and staff members are human beings with feelings. That being said, don't start flame wars with other members. Don't call them cunts. Don't tell them to go and suck someone's dick. If you don't like what someone said about you, there's always the option of reporting posts. Warnings will be given out. (This includes degrading a person (or group thereof) who isn't a member of the board. For example - while Mandoli hates Sidney Crosby, she won't call him a "fucking prick". Be aware of your words.)
¤ As a follow-up to the previous rule: Everyone has opinions, and they will express them. Do not take offense over something someone else has said. There is an ignore option in case you feel as though someone's opinions are deemed offensive to you. Do not report someone because they don't agree with what you believe in.
¤ If you encounter any off-site problems with fellow members, please do not send messages to the admins so they're involved in the situation. With the exception of the TPIR recap blog, we don't have a say in what goes on with off-site activity. If a member runs their own blog, it's technically their responsibility to run things in the way they see fit. HOWEVER, if a staff member finds out that you have "played" anyone on this forum elsewhere, you (the "player") will be subject to warnings and possible bans.
¤ Do not take up any problems you have with the board off-site. A PM or two is always your easiest bet, as long as it's appropriate. Facebook is not a site where you should be airing your grievances towards staff and other members. Staff will take your PMs and reply back within a reasonable amount of time. Sending questions or insults through e-mail is considered off-site, and shouldn't be done. EVER.
¤ When the head Administrator (Mandoli) feels as though the staff team needs to grow, she will choose someone to join. There is no need for the number of staff members to outweigh the number of general members.
¤ The shoutbox is here for a reason: To talk about whatever you want. Unfortunately, it is not supposed to be used for spoilers. We request that you keep all spoilers out of the chatbox at all times. Failure to do so will result in the comment(s) being deleted. We also ask that you keep the shoutbox free of forum game announcements. Tagging members participating in the game will help. In order to tag someone's name - in a thread, so they will get a notification - hover over the name of the person who you would like to tag. That shows their username. This is the name you will use to tag. Use a @ symbol and the name you see when you hover, and do not use spaces. Simple!
¤ Do not ask where you can download PC games that were released commercially for free. This is called "warez." It's also called "illegal." Most of the PC games released during the last decade or so at least can still be purchased online, if you do a little digging. We cannot and will not help you violate copyright law.
¤ Sites that will post game show-related information (in regards to when a show will air) include TV Guide, caseyabell's Game Show Follies, the Golden Road forums, GSN's site, and Buzzr's site. If you think one of these sites has an answer to a question about when a show will air, please look into it. They are all easily accessible. There is no need to ask a question about something that can be answered at one of the aforementioned sites.
¤ Game Show Paradise's warning system is pretty easy to understand. Failure to abide by the rules and find ways past the warning system will result in... You guessed it. Warnings and bans. Here is the cheat sheet when it comes to warnings, suggested by thekid965.graphics ;
First Offense: 10% warning given.
Second Offense: Warning raised to 25%; ban of 24 hours.
Third Offense: Warning raised to 50%; ban of three days.
Fourth Offense: Warning raised to 100%; ban of one week.
Fifth Offense: Permanent ban from the forum.
¤ Depending on the severity of the first offense, the 10% warning may be bypassed to go straight to a full day's ban. If this is the case, the warning notes will explain why the staff feel like this was needed.
¤ If you receive a warning, and your level is increased, it will be removed after six months from the time of the foul, per good behavior. Any continued trouble during the six months will force the staff to raise the warning level.
¤ If you feel as though a member is violating the rules and a member of the staff team is not on the board at the time of the offense, you may PM one of the following staff members: Mandoli, phimat37, tpirrules1972, asja2002, and ItsVedaTime. You may also report the post, and a staff member can decide through the admin panel if there needs to be action taken. Please do not try to go around staff members and take action yourselves.
¤ As a side note to the warnings and bans - spam (posts that are, to the staff's opinion(s), considered to be the shilling out of someone's product in any given language) is an automatic ban. Don't make us autoban someone because all they did was post nonsense.
¤ Proboards has upped the maximum avatar size in v5. It is now at 150 x 150 pixels. All avatars must be porn and drug free. The no nudity rule is in place. No shirtless men, and no women in their swimsuits. We'd like to keep the board at a somewhat-family friendly level. You are allowed to use .gif avatars (moving ones), provided they are less than 1MB when uploaded. I have no idea what the max size is if you link to it. Keep the watermarks off - if you have to pay for the photo, don't use it.credits ;
¤ As a follow-up to the previous rule: We ask that you don't link to any Photobucket link. Photobucket has made it clear that they won't tolerate third-party hosting. If you'd like to add an image to the board, please use another site altogether (Imgur is your safest bet) or the "add attachment" feature. If you don't know how to use those, please ask a staff member.
¤ The signature limit is pretty much "don't stretch the page", and must meet the requirements of all avatars (do not have any suggestive pictures, pretty much). If you are using a banner, you will have no more than two (2) lines of text. Anyone not using a signature graphic will have no more than five (5) lines of text. Signatures shouldn't be larger than your posts.
¤ Credits for the rules go to Mandoli (99.9% of what you see in this thread) and thekid965 (the rule about trying to download games illegally) of Game Show Paradise, and may not be used anywhere else.
