When PAX TV was introduced to the world in 1998 PAX had great programming that the whole family could enjoy and watch and then they got into the game show world by having their first game show with the short lived The Reel To Reel Picture Show and then made it's mark by bringing back Supermarket Sweep and airing Shop Till You Drop reruns and also Born Lucky reruns as well. Shortly after airing reruns of Louie Anderson's Family Feud and Twenty One PAX aired the revival of Beat The Clock and then after Beat The Clock was cancelled PAX renamed itself I and showed little interest in game shows by adding shows like Growing Pains and other things and only focused on Family Feud reruns with John O'Hurley. Now that PAX renamed itself ION Television you never see game shows being shown on it and all ION has are shows like Cold Case and The Mentalist and so I think ION should be adding game show reruns to it's lineup and it would such a joy. I wonder why ION Television broke away from game shows and focusing on Cold Case reruns and other shows? Would game shows work on ION Television today at the moment?, Kelsey

You forgot to mention that PAX also aired Hollywood Showdown as well, and as for ION Television putting game shows on there... Nah, too many infomercials during the day and too many Law and Order: CI/Criminal Minds/Cold Case/whatever-other-cop-show-you-can-think-of reruns during primetime. I don't see ION airing any game shows for a very long time.

Does anyone even watch ION anymore with all the infomercials and Blue Bloods, Criminal Minds, and other non stop crap. People think GSN is bad with the excessive use of Family Feud, which they can be, but not as bad at ION is. Talk about excessive. Whenever I come across ION it's either Blue Bloods or Criminal Minds. You can get caught up on those shows easily by watching ION.

Does anyone even watch ION anymore with all the infomercials and Blue Bloods, Criminal Minds, and other non stop crap. I haven't had ION on in quite some time. Just looked at the listings for tonight, and they have a Flashpoint marathon. I don't even know what that show is. (In English: A game show for the network just doesn't work out for what they want to air.)

I forgot about Flashpoint, ION also airs that quite a bit. I don't know what the show is either, probably another cop show.

"Does anyone even watch Ion anymore?" Actually, Ion gets a fairly respectable audience by the standards of minor broadcast networks. Season-to-date Ion is averaging 1.16 million viewers in prime time. That looks just fine compared to most cable networks. Ion does skew old with a 0.3 18-49 rating, but given the low cost of its programming, I bet the network makes some money. By the way, I posted this note on Game Show Follies... Once upon a PaxA poster on Game Show Paradise recalls the heyday of game shows on Pax TX (later Ion Television). I had forgotten just how many game shows came and went on Bud Paxson's upstart operation in its early days. Wikipedia offers a helpful list. It includes everything from Twenty One reruns (not the rigged version) to Reel to Reel Picture Show, proud owner of a Game Show Garbage induction. Like so many GSG inductees, Reel to Reel wasn't that terrible. It was just a plodding quizzer about movies, with past-prime celebs and Peter Marshall looking bored. YouTube never forgets anything, so several videos of the Pax game show originals survive in slightly tarnished glory. You can see some of the telltale color bleeding in the screenshot. I have to agree with another poster on the Game Show Paradise thread that Ion TV won't try anything from our little genre for a long, long time, if ever. They gotta cram too many infomercials and cop shows into the fleeting hours. But once upon a time, game shows had a pretty solid perch on Pax.
