Daniel, is this really the same John Herner in these two videos? Where's his backside shoulder-length hair and his glasses?

To clear things up a bit, it was Bryce Lozier who first said it was the same guy, when these were being uploaded solely to Facebook.
To be fair, given how much time is between this point of the Spelling format (it's not the very end, since it's during this John's run that the pink squares were upped from $200 to $500) and Craig vs. Denese (the episode with John Heaner's final Sprint), it's entirely possible he grew his hair out and got glasses. The latter also has the standard "dong" sounds as the Chuck Bucks are paid out, which wasn't the case right after the Spelling format was ousted.
If this is the case, it also means that John lost at some point due to a Sprint error and was brought back. (...Which wouldn't have been the first time. In SCR-157, Chuck notes that John has been brought back due to a Sprint error.)

Thanks Daniel. If the last sentence is true, it wouldn't be unlike with Jody Speckles on Sale of the Century in 1986.

Speaking of Sale of the Century, it appears the West Coast never got to see 5 minutes worth of the August 21, 1985 episode.
I'm confused by Michael Pannoni's description. He makes it out to seem like not even the East Coast got to see this episode in full. Especially since the special report says "Program Recorded Earlier".
But Roger Mudd says "Good Afternoon" at the start of the special report. I doubt it aired at 10:30 a.m. EST. So when did this special report air on the east coast?

If the last sentence is true, it wouldn't be unlike with Jody Speckles on Sale of the Century in 1986. Funny thing: I just got finished watching her last show on YouTube, and Jim notes that Instant Cash wasn't present on the show during her first set of appearances. So yeah, if this is the same John Heaner, then we have an interesting parallel. (On a side note, since you mentioned Michael Pannoni: he recently uploaded the 9/26/84 Scrabble, and one of the contestants was Lori Chism [sp?], who had previously played on Grundy's unsold Party Line in 1983.)

The August 22, 1984 episode if Scrabble was probably uploaded because of the $55,000 Scrabble Sprint win.

Anyone know how many players retired undefeated under the original Straddling format? I know of the following:
Anne McCormick Mark Dauberman Peter Catella John Herner
There were also players who came close to retiring, but didn't quite make it:
Jack Archer Amy Albani Schultz

Well, this is a surprise -- a syndicated episode of Jeopardy! turned up last week. And not just any syndicated episode, oh no -- it's one from the Art Fleming series.
Taped in 1974 (if one of the Round 1 clues is anything to go by), here's Barbara/Ron/Beth, apparently from the second part of the run where your bonus prize was determined by your post-Final Jeopardy score -- get $2,000 or more, get $25,000 in cash. There's also a trip to London on offer for the first player to clear a category.
Video is in black-and-white, is missing the first five seconds or so, and ends as Art thanks the players post-Final (no credits, in other words).

Well, this is a bit of a surprise -- a syndicated episode of Jeopardy! turned up last week. "Big deal," I hear you say. "Trebek shows are easy to find!" I never said it was Trebek's version. In a weird twist, this version had returning champions. All the weekly Syndicated games from the 1970's I know of had none of that.

Actually, I don't think it did. "Championship" here only seems to go as far as it did on, to use a couple of Merv's other shows, Crosswords or most seasons of nighttime Wheel of Fortune -- i.e., one-and-done.

Daniel, this must be a later taping. Wikipedia says that the bonus board was dropped in later tapings of this version, and the evening's champion received a prize based upon his or her final score, with a Chevrolet Vega or Chevrolet Caprice (or even additional cash prizes of $10,000 or $25,000) as possibilities.
Anyways, I am happy to have seen it, despite being a little incomplete and in black and white. Those are all very minor, and I'll accept this.

After Watching a Lot of MTV's Lip Service Stuff: I Want to see more full length episodes of MTV's Lip Service (That May Contain Up Yours when Monie Love took over)
Not Only That I Will Throw In some Non-MTV GS Crap: Including Sale of the Century (The Ones that Sally took down), More Scrabble and the $1,000,000 Chance of a Lifetime and to mention Great Pretenders (Mainly Karaoke Style Episodes) and Break The Bank '85

Her account got terminated. Might have been due to her bullying associated with her obsessive crush on the late Jim Perry. However, one of her other accounts is still alive.
