Golden-road.net appears to be down, says the domain name was expired. IIRC that happens about once a year and they'll probably renew the rights to it soon enough.

I hope that site stays down. Yeah, I'm not a big fan of that place.

Aaaaaaand it's down, at least for the time being. I hope that site stays down. Yeah, I'm not a big fan of that place. I'm not gonna say it's perfect (mainly because it isn't), but I'd say Golden-Road is better off today than it was even a few years ago. (And if nothing else, at least it's nowhere near the cesspool that alt.tv.game-shows has been since mid-2003.)

They still deserve that Garbage Award (or whatever it's called) they received a while back. They take TPIR way too seriously.

Bumping this up to state the following:
I was on the forum for a little bit in the past. I don't know if they have the fantasy-type games, but I played more of that than I posted on the actual boards. Won't cry over not being on there anymore.
Don't they ban for the stupidest reasons? Give me some examples, if you could.

They still deserve that Garbage Award (or whatever it's called) they received a while back. The only "garbage award" I'm aware of is that Game Show Garbage induction, which was originally far more ruthless with several direct attacks on various members (though when one of your sources is Encyclopedia Dramatica, that's kinda expected). They take TPIR way too seriously. How so, in your opinion? Personally, given they're a Price fan forum, I'm willing to give them a pass for the most part. I was on the forum for a little bit in the past. I don't know if they have the fantasy-type games, If you're referring to Host Your Own, that section was permalocked and archived back on January 6 due to basically being inactive far more often than it was active.

There's one user on that forum who really complained about how the floor in the studio looked. If that's not taking TPIR way too seriously, then I don't know what is.

I swear, it's like some people are paranoid and scared of change. I mean sure, not all changes are great (I'm looking at you YouTube), but sooner or later changes have to be made. It's usually for the best.

Agreed, but that's one person, not the majority opinion. I swear, it's like some people are paranoid and scared of change. In fairness, Golden-Road had reasons to be afraid of change for the first couple or so years after Roger was fired, mainly because he'd been 1) fired and 2) fired specifically because Fremantle wanted to take the show in a "new (read: more Drew-centric) direction". I mean sure, not all changes are great [...] but sooner or later changes have to be made. It's usually for the best. I agree to an extent, but looking at the genre over the past 20 years I see more examples of "change for the sake of change" and "change because we're cheap" than I'd like to think about.
