AP Gladiators Thread (All Countries)

You might know me as a Supermarket Sweep fan, but another show that I enjoyed from my childhood was American Gladiators. I really enjoyed most of the events played during the show and it was really fun to watch the contestants go up against the gladiators. The obstacle course at the end was fun to watch as well. The NBC version from about a decade ago was good too (at least in my opinion anyway). I just wish this show would come back or some network could air reruns of AG.

My question is this: would you guys accept AG being on GSN? Personally, I'd love to see GSN air reruns of the show. It would bring back a lot of fond memories. This is a show I really miss.

The problem with the NBC version was the hard-as-hell Eliminator. For trying to be true to the show, they really got the thing ass-backwards. The treadmill at the end? I wouldn't have put it there... Maybe somewhere in the middle?

If GSN had the balls to do this, I would love to see a "sports block" in the future. They could air AG and Extreme Dodgeball.

Mandoli: The reason they had the treadmill at the end was they were mimicking (or trying to) the original British version. The REAL main issues are these:

The overgimmicked events- Why the hell did everything have to be over water or fire? Isn't fire dangerous?
Hulk Hogan, enough said. Shouldn't have hosted. Laila could have done it better on her own.

Currently both the classic version of American Gladiators as well as Gladiators (UK) from the same time period are airing on broadcast sub-channel "CHARGE!"

I saw they were on at around noon in my area, but check your local listings for time and station.

In the 1992-93 season, the winners are seeded 1-6. In the previous season, the loser with the greatest number of points made it to the semis as the wild card. Apparently, in this season (92-93) the wild card goes to whoever scored the greatest number of points in similar events.  The reason i mention this involves Shannon Williams. Shannon had one more overall point than Betsy Erickson, but Betsy got the wild card. Why was Betsy given the last spot and not Shannon?

Gladiators, the U.K version of American Gladiators and a show that became a staple of British Saturday night TV in the 1990s, is getting a reboot.

Confirming rumors that emerged last month, the BBC has revealed it is the new home for the spandex-friendly, muscle-flexing entertainment show, which originally ran on ITV from October 1992 to January 2000 (Sky had a short-lived revival that lasted just a year between 2008 and 2009).
