He did not appear as a contestant, but Kevin Nealon did make an uncredited on-camera appearance on the syndicated Sale of the Century in 1985. (Nealon had already appeared once doing stand-up on the Tonight Show in 1984, but did not really break out as a star until joining the cast of SNL in 1986.)
At the end of the episode in which Tim Holleran retired as champion after winning every prize on the stage and the cash jackpot, immediately after the game ended his friends in the audience rushed the contestant podium to celebrate with Tim. Among the friends was a clearly recognizable Nealon!
This episode just aired last night, and I still have it on my DVR, so I will try to post a screencap.

Extreme Dodgeball's Mark Pontius (who was on the show with his sister Rebecca) is a musician. You may know of a band called Foster the People. Pontius is a part of that group. Remember this song?
Pontius is the drummer.

Since the OP is a big fan of Match Game, we can't talk about this subject, without talking about Brianne Leary, who was a contestant in 1976, and an actual celebrity in 1979. And yes, her original appearance as a contestant was brought up on the show.

Lynn Deerfield was on the 60s Match Game, and mentioned this when she was a celeb in the 70s promoting Guiding Light, that she was a co-star on at the time.
Donny Deutsch of CNBC fame and Baltimore Ravens coach Brian Billick were contestants on MG7x(Brian MGPM, Donny syndicated 1980). Catherine Bell of JAG was a contestant on MG90 and an impostor on TTTT90.
Mia, a bartender who appears on Bar Rescue from time to time, was a losing contestant on the 2015 version of Chain Reaction and lost.

Another minor celeb turned up yesterday on BUZZR, appearing as a contestant on syndicated Sale of the Century. His game show appearance followed his "rise" to "stardom". In fact, it would more accurate to characterize his SOTC appearance as one more minute added to his original 15 minutes of fame. Lee Bayrd was the very first World Monopoly Champion in 1973, and has his own page on the Monopoly Championship wiki. monopoly-championship-history.wikia.com/wiki/Lee_Bayrd

Pardon me for being a victim of my own ignorance, but I failed to notice that this was page 2 of this thread. I mistakenly said johnnyo was the OP of this thread.

No worries. As it happens, this is not the cleanest thread anyway, as there are multiple references to the same celebrity appearance by different posters just within Page 1. Back on topic, there was a contestant by the name of Terry Gardner on another syndicated episode of SOTC that recently aired on BUZZR. Based on the limited background information given, I strongly suspect that she eventually became a moderately well-known free-lance travel journalist, with Instagram and Twitter Handle of @terrytravels1 . She also has a listing of the contributor pages of the LA Times ( www.latimes.com/la-trb-about-20100928-story.html ) and Huff Post ( www.huffingtonpost.com/author/terry-gardner ).

Chip Esten (probably most recently known for his stint as Deacon on Nashville) was a contestant on Sale of the Century towards the end of the NBC run.

I noticed that Terry was a female. Terry, in that spelling, is very rarely a female name, and I'd like to ask, was this the same Terry who appeared on the fourth episode of Press Your Luck in September 1983, which GameTV in Canada aired not long ago? Very interesting article. Based on the list, six of them were on The Dating Game, but I don't know if they qualify as contestants. If they do, I should add Casey Kasem from American Top 40 and his voice acting on Scooby-Doo cartoons to the list. Also, very interesting to know that Brad Garrett from Everybody Loves Raymond made his first TV appearance on Super Password - in what year did he appear? I do remember Garrett from Hollywood Squares during the Bergeron era.

I do remember Garrett from Hollywood Squares during the Bergeron era. Brad's TV debut was on Star Search in the comedians category in 1983-84, where he won the $100K grand prize for the season. His first game shows as a celebrity were the Babble pilot taped sometime in 1984(probably early in 1984 since TOm Kennedy hosted it and Body Language was picked up by CBS by April for a June 4, 1984 debut) and Celebrity Hot Potato in 1984, shortly after his Star Search win. Brad's week of SUper Password was in November 1987 with Daphne Maxwell Reid.
