I don't understand it. Who or what is to blame for this latest surge in Newfoundland, Canada, given the vaccine rollout?

Well, to be fair, Newfoundland has been doing really well regarding COVID-19. Even at most, last March or April, there were only 200+ active cases. This time, there were 85 new cases (almost half are presumptive) either yesterday or the day before. Today, it is reported that there are fewer new cases, but it is not to be taken for granted. Canada had a slow rollout, but it is expected that vaccine rollout will gain momentum starting on Monday. It is also learned that the seniors aged 85+ are soon due for a vaccine, and there may not be as many (though my grandfather is still alive at age 95). Considering I am just under 50 years old, my turn may likely come by summer, or maybe May.
The cause is still being investigated, but it is believed it may have to do with indoor sports, and/or rotational workers from elsewhere in Canada coming home and brought the virus home. Cases started to grow after two students at a high school in nearby Mount Pearl was reported to be infected.
This is kind of strange, as Newfoundland has been pretty much a safe haven from COVID-19 (as has been Atlantic Canada as well), and is not as hard hit like any provinces outside Atlantic Canada.
I am off work for at least two weeks for the time being. By the time those two weeks expire, regardless if the office reopens, I will be taking annual leave (assuming the office reopens between February 24 and March 3 inclusive) as I am required to use up my allotted annual leave by March 31.

It was confirmed in a briefing this evening that the province of NL is going to Alert Level 5 restrictions due to the link of the UK B117 variant with that outbreak in the Metro area

Hey, stick to the show discussion. If you want to talk about the virus without game shows, make a thread in OT and take all talk there. There's a good case of thread derailment going on here.

Today's episode had what I think was the most annoying contestant ever. It was a guy named William that wouldn't stop saying "WOO!". I swear he would say that every 1 or 2 seconds, it was that bad. I get that the showrunners want contestants to be full of life and energy, but sometimes they go too far to the point of being obnoxious. William was just that. Not even Leslie Jones saying the word "Sweep" is that annoying. That's how annoying it was.

Today's showcase saw a contestant bid $3 over the actual retail price of her showcase. Talk about a heartbreaking outcome.

Then the show ended with a rare Stack the Deck win for a perfect show.

That $7 guess on the gumball machine in Ten Chances would've made Devin rage so hard. I miss Devin.

That $7 guess on the gumball machine in Ten Chances would've made Devin rage so hard. I miss Devin. I know this is a way late reply, but I saw a still shot on social media. Like, who would approve of that guess? I'd disown the contestant in question if I knew them.

If you think Devin would rage, I wonder what Barker himself would do

For a moment I thought Devin was in reference to one of the show's current models, but then I realized it was referring to a deceased moderator from these boards.
As for tomorrow's episode, I am very interested to see if there will be any April Fool's theme tomorrow. There was none last year, due to the looming COVID-19 crisis in the U.S. Thankfully, because of vaccines possibly gaining momentum in the weeks to come, the end of the crisis is approaching.

The April Fools 2020 episodes would have probably taped pre-COVID, as they had new episodes of Price last year through around June 1 IIRC.
