Where are you finding these on the Pub-D-Hub channel? I'm note sure where to look.

Where are you finding these on the Pub-D-Hub channel? I'm note sure where to look. You have to be a Gold member to access it. (The cost is negligible, $2.50/year -- just over 12¢ a month -- and more than worth it.) Once you have Gold membership, you'll find a dedicated "Game Shows" category from the main channel page.

Pub-D-Hub has now removed that 1976 Break the Bank episode. I thought they might. (It seems they didn't review the file they had and thought it was an episode of the '50s version -- which is PD as far as anyone knows. When they were informed what they really had, they took it down.)
If you want to know, this appears to be the exact recording they used, GSN logos and all. I know, it's not a "black and white" show, but I thought some of you might be curious, so here you are.

I always enjoyed the '70's version. Quality Hollywood Squares knock-off.
Pretty sure Break the Bank has the rare distinction of being on the air three times in TV history (1948, 1976, 1985), and having an entirely different format each and every time.
Here's an ep of the b/w version on YT:

I always enjoyed the '70's version. Quality Hollywood Squares knock-off. Not to mention, one of the few game shows in history where logic and deduction played a role in the format. It took me a little while to grasp what was going on here, but once I did I very much appreciated it. But then, I also enjoy Minesweeper every now and then (a game this Break the Bank resembles in its strategy). It always bugged me that ABC canned the show just as ratings evidence suggests it was starting to catch on. But it was more important for the soaps to expand to a full hour each, I suppose, at least in ABC's mindset. At least B&E gave it another chance in syndication, but a weekly format with no returning champions and Jack Barry being perhaps not well-suited for hosting a celebrity game of this nature worked against it (Tom was much more natural in this setting, IMO). Ah well. Probably the best of the three Break the Banks, though, IMO. The original was an obvious low-budget knockoff of The $64,000 Question (with the caveat that I've never seen an episode of the $250,000 incarnation), and the '80s version... not bad in principle, I suppose, but the less said about the execution (and the shabby treatment of Gene Rayburn) the better.

Story here. In the world of game shows, she was a regular mainstay on I've Got a Secret (and also filled in as guest host once).

Sorry, didn't realize there was a thread being made already.
Betsy was my favorite panelist on IGaS. Also loved the episode where she guest-hosted.

Some unfortunate passings recently. Younger folk will know Betsy as Jason's mother Pamela from the Friday the 13th slasher film series. She did a pretty decent job, though I recall her saying she couldn't stand the film and only did it to pay off a car she had purchased.

This appears to be from February 4, 1953, judging from the comments about Arlene Francis' eyepatch, and also how by this point, Steve Allen was on the panel.
