The 1987 episodes of Scrabble aired in 1992, and IIRC the first game show host week was Nov 1987. After finishing 1987, they then aired the Oct 1984-Summer 1986 episodes from late 1992-sometime in 1994(but skipped the four months with the Spelling format). Sometime around early to mid 1994 the second game show host week, which was Feb 1988 IIRC, would have aired. USA then aired Scrabble through October 1995, stopping in September 1989. The first weeks of Scrabble on USA in Fall 1991 was the All-American Scrabble tournament from Sep-Dec 1986.

One question I have is: When did they start having $500 and $1,000 bonuses awarded for correctly guessing a word on the first letter being placed on the bonus square, as well as have them being played during Speedword? I’m pretty sure both changes were made when straddling was still in place.

I’m pretty sure both changes were made when straddling was still in place. September 2, 1985 when it changed back to simply shouting out the word and also buzzing in to shoutout a guess began at that very point.

I don't see the first letter on the bonus square, and Chuck saying "I'll give you so and so if you can guess it immediately". Where's the earliest UPLOADED episode where this happened, and Chuck says this? That's what I'd like to know.

Where's the earliest UPLOADED episode where this happened, and Chuck says this? That's what I'd like to know. Chuck did allude to the speedword Chuckbucks debut, which did happen on that episode. The 9/6/1985 episode is on Youtube and Chuck mentions the "money if you can tell me what it is right now" when they are building on a letter on a Pink square, so it presumably would have debuted on that week also. www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8EK7H7Bhxs&t=11s
