I just viewed the beginning of a December 31, 1986 episode of "Split Second" which has aired on GameTV at some point. It doesn't appear to match an episode from that date when it aired on Buzzr.
Some things I have noticed:
The GameTV broadcast has the players' names in a different font as opposed to Helvetica when shown on Buzzr. The Buzzr broadcast had a female model alongside the featured car, whereas GameTV's broadcast didn't. The three answers on a screen were shown on a blue background on the GameTV broadcast, while the Buzzr broadcast was shown on a rose pink background. - I also read comments one time (not sure where) that there were fee plugs for one nation's broadcasts, but none for the other.
Do you suppose there were two versions of Monty Hall's "Split Second", one of them being a Canadian version, and the other being a U.S. version? Or did Monty's "Split Second" actually debut earlier than December 1986?

Split Second had 18 episodes that featured what you just mentioned and apparently only aired in Canada (different font for the players, no female model, and blue background, not to mention gray podiums instead of purple). The fee plugs were only in Canadian broadcasts, not American ones.
As for the premiere date in Canada, I have a feeling (though I can't confirm it) that it was December 1, 1986 per The Windsor Star.

Thanks for clarifying. Maybe there were more episodes aired in Canada than in the U.S. It would make sense, since I did view the Canadian premiere on the late David Downs' channel just now, and the first contestant introduced, if I am not mistaken, was from Thunder Bay, Ontario.
